Disneymooning advice?

Hello all. First post here. I have not been to WDW since '99 when I was a kid and I am getting married next September. My fiance and I have to decided to have a Disneymoon (Honeymoon at WDW).

Anyone have any advice on things to do or romantic places to go?

Get the dining plan and make dinner reservations at a bunch of nice restaurants! My fiancé and I will be honeymooning in wdw in 35 days, and that's what I'm looking most forward to! Make reservations for dining 180 days from your trip or else it's tricky to get the ones you want. Congrats!

We honeymooned at WDW and it is awesome, your in for a treat! Def get ADRs for restaurants your interested in, walk ups can be very difficult depending on time of year. I would also suggest getting the just married ears, they get you extra magic here and there. I don't know where you are staying but I would eat at the poly one night and stay and watch wishes from the beach, it is great!

I'm not very "meal" centered for celebrating, so I'd plan late night walks around the Boardwalk or find a quiet place to watch Wishes from!

It's so funny what a romantic place Disney World is at night! Idk what it is about it, but just BEING there at night sets my heart aflutter so plan lots of nights!!!

We got married at Disney in 2000 and I don't know if it was because we got married there or not but, we got gifts from all the sit down eateries that we advance reserved for the whole ten days after the wedding. It might be worth mentioning that you are honeymooning when you make your reservations.

We spent our honeymoon there, hubby still complains about the groom's ears I made him wear! If you want some romantic meals there are the obvious choices like California Grill, Artist Point.... We enjoyed more interactive meals like 'Ohana and Biergaten. Maybe do something special like the wishes dessert party as a treat or the luau at the Polynesian.

Jboccuzzi, thanks for the reservation advice. I was already planning on making some nice reservations and getting the disney dining plan but I had no idea you could do it that far in advance. And I will definitely be signing up for the Honeymoon Registry! That's so cool that they have that.

olinecoach61, we're staying at the All Star Movies. I know it's not the most romantic resort but the value resorts are all we can afford. But we're huge movie fans (especially Disney movies). One of our all-time faves is Fantasia so we're requesting a room overlooking the Fantasia pool, which I think could be charming at night time when it's lit up with the water shooting out. Just trying our best to make it as romantic as possible. But I will definitely take the advice about the Poly! Thanks.

Britt, I very much agree about the park at night-time. I haven't experienced Disney World for the romantic perspective yet since I was last there as a kid. But we spent our anniversary at Disneyland this year and it was very romantic, especially after dark.

Samoht, I know that when we called to make reservations at Disneyland for our anniversary and my birthday (which are in the same week) they asked if there were any special events we were celebrating. My birthday I got a free dessert at Blue Bayou (my favorite restaurant at Dland) and our anniversary we got free truffles at Carthay Circle Restaurant (definitely the best restaurant at CalAdventure).

ajrwdwgirl, the luau dinner show definitely looks like something my fiancee would enjoy. Might have to arrange that as a surprise!

Letting them know you are on your honeymoon gets you nice little things. Buttons that say just married got us into prime areas for parades and fireworks thanks to very happy and helpful cast members. Every time we went into a restaurant with an ADR our table was decorated. We got more visits from the characters during character dining..

^ All that sounds amazing. We will definitely get the buttons. I would love having decorated tables when we went to eat. It would definitely make the experience even more magical. Did you show up quite a bit before the fireworks and parades for the good seating or were you actually able to show up close to them?

First off, congratulations.

Make sure you tell them when you check in and even previously that you are celebrating your marriage. Make all your dining reservations now. Yachtsman steakhouse is expensive but is a nice romantic dinner option.
