If you add it all up, Disneyland Resort has more rides than WDW. Not saying which are better or worse, just... interesting.
That's true, but WDW wins in terms of attractions by his count. DLR has 77 attractions while WDW has 86 attractions. Some things at WDW that could be equated as a ride were probably left out as well, like Sum of All Thrills, the water coaster at Typhoon Lagoon, etc.

Long thread, so this already might have been posed before:

If DL gets new fireworks and a castle overlay in May, as it did for HCOE... will all of that be removed, next year, for the Christmas decorations and fireworks?

And then put back up in January??

Most likely not for the castle. Although they may alternate the anniversary fireworks with the holiday ones.

New MiceAge update. There’s not much in there that’s new, but it fleshes out some of the previous rumors and offers a good summary of all the 60th plans.

I was wondering how TDA was going to try and replace Mad T Party alcohol sales and we apparently have our answer. A Frozen party with alcohol.

There is also a throwaway at the end backing up @WDW1974 saying that Star Wars land may go into Toontown with construction starting before the 60th celebration ends.

They don't mention when exactly Toad and Pinocchio are supposed to close. I really hope I'm able to ride them.

Interesting Breakdown. Out of curiosity could you tell me which attractions you consider E tickets at Disneyland and DCA? I got stuck at 9, I'm assuming to get to 11 you counted Autopia and Finding Nemo as E tickets ? At DCA I'm guessing you consider either Grizzly River Run or Toy Story Midway Mania as a D ticket ?

Good question. The following seven rides found at both Magic Kingdom and Disneyland were counted as an E Ticket in both parks tally:

Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Small World, Space Mountain.

Disneyland adds the following four rides to that Magic Kingdom roster, to get to 11 E Tickets:

Indiana Jones Adventure, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, Star Tours.

Autopia/Speedway weren't counted as an E Ticket in either park. And if you buy me a drink we can debate the merits of considering Small World an E Ticket to 21st century audiences, especially in its cut down and shortened WDW format. :)

To get this back OT to the 60th Anniversary, go read the Miceage Update today everyone! It's notable that the beloved Harold in the Matterhorn is getting a big upgrade this winter before his poor, nameless cousin in Expedition Everest.

I didn't count Sum of All Thrills as a separate Attraction. Innoventions East and West were counted as two Attractions for Epcot, while Innoventions at Disneyland was counted as one Attraction. The individual exhibits inside weren't broken out, but it's a valid point that Sum of All Thrills could be considered a separate "ride".

The water parks weren't included at all, just theme parks. The vast majority of WDW visitors don't step foot in the water parks, less than 7% of annual WDW visitors, according to the officially unofficial TEA attendance figures.

Plus, I went to a water park once about 25 years ago and found it rather gross seeing all those strangers in their bathing suits. I can only imagine what it looks like now with increasing obesity rates. I'll stick to fully clothed theme parks when counting up rides and attractions. :)

Shorter, yes, but still closer to Mary Blair's original vision, seeing it doesn't have characters and character music mucking up things...

Disneyland's facade and lighting is beautiful, but I really found the presentation of "IASW and *Disney Synergy*" incredibly distasteful. WDW's interior is, thematically, the better version.

Getting back on topic, I'm looking forward to the DL calendar showing the Chik posing dates for the rest of the dark rides.

Getting back to Harold, he looks fine to me. I can't seem to think of a reason to replace him.
