Disneyland Trip Concerns

The tickets have been purchased and the room is booked and paid for. However, I am not feeling the excitement for our trip. We are leaving from Dallas on June 5 and will leave California on June 10. Rather than try to get settled and go to the parks on that Sunday, we will wait till Monday morning. We will then have 4 full days to fully explore the parks.

I have been to WDW 3 times on full vacations and we spent 1 day at MK as a shore excursion on a DCL cruise.

My concerns:
1) I have not been inside an airplane since 2005. You had to take your shoes off then, but that was about it. Then I only had to really worry about myself, but this time we have a 5 year old and a 7 year old to get through the flight.

2) Getting to and from the airport to the hotel. Obviously its not that difficult or people wouldn't do it every day. Getting there is not as bad as the trip from the hotel to the airport. Not knowing how long it takes to be picked up and then how long it takes to get to the airport. I can get myself to the airport just fine, but depending on someone else is a concern,

3) Crowds. We are going the first week in June after school is finished here. That week looks heavy on the Grad Nite events. Are the parks going to be elbow to elbow all day long during that time? Will we get do anything at all for the 4 days we are there? I have memories of being 10 years old in 1985 in Florida trying to get out of the MK after the fireworks on the 4th of July. Being 10 in a sea of people is a bad feeling.

Kids do not have to take off their shoes anymore and if you look on the TSA website you can see what the current rules are and be prepared. None of the rules are too crazy. As for the kids electronic devices with headphones, go tot he local 5 Below or Dollar Store type place and get some activity books/coloring books, new crayons, lots of snacks, maybe some small quite toys that can used on the plane and gum! When ever my kids get bored. I just pull something out of my bag for them.

Days should be fine for the most part. Grad Night crowds come in after school gets out. They will have an exclusive party that starts later in the evening. I believe it's in DCA, double check. Once the party starts you will not be allowed in that area so plan accordingly. Hit the bigger most popular rides during the day as the teens will head to the mountains and other big ticket rides for the most part.

Lots of options for airport. Disneyland Express bus, Uber/Lyft, etc.

It will be crowded, but it is always crowded at DLR. You will accomplish plenty in four days, just make sure you start early each day so that you can knock out some biggies before the crowd shows up.

If you are staying across from Disneyland, you can walk to the parks. The Disney bus was great getting you to and from the airport. It is different in some ways from Disney world. No magic bands and they use paper tickets. You have to use kiosks for fast passes. I found they don't have the good snacks and food like Disney world does. I thought some of the attractions were better than at Disney world. Great to see Snow White and mr. Toad again. There are also attractions that none of the Disney World parks have between MK and California Adventures. It was crowded when we were there in February. Also, 7 attractions were closed: the riverboat and Sailing ship Columbia, tom sawyer's island, the railroad, splash mt., Autopia, and jungle cruise. Big disappointment! We were out of school a week for Mardi Gras and taking our grandchild. We didn't want to cancel and disappoint her.

The castle isn't as tall as at WDW but it was sleeping beauty's castle. There is a wonderful attraction in it. Also it is interesting that you are walking over a real draw bridge when you enter the castle from Main St.
