Tangaroa Terrace getting a bit of a makeover:

Permit Number: BLD2016-05830 Status: Received Map Info: 1150 W MAGIC WAY Disneyland Hotel - Central Courtyard - Tangaroa Terrace - Tiki Bar Development - Tenant Improvement: 175 sq.ft new service bar indoor and existing outdoor dining area for bar on the main level. 245 sq.ft to include a new storage layout, walk in refrig and new slab to fit walking cooler located in the basement. New HVAC and electrical on basement and main level.

The latest MiceChat update had this, which ties in with this permit above:

We just caught word of a possible Trader Sam’s Expansion. It sounds like the popular bar will soon close to expand the indoor seating area. This would come at the expense of the Tangaroa Terrace. The Kitchen would remain, but the Tangaroa Terrace would be folded into Trader Sam’s to allow for more seating inside.most of the food would still be available, and the old Tangaroa space would receive the same enhanced decor that Trader Sam’s currently has. We hope this rumor is true. Trader Sam’s is a smash hit and never has enough seating. Tangaroa Terrace on the other hand, while wonderful, was rarely busy. This sounds like a slam dunk. Same food, better theme, more indoor seating.

For a minute I thought the starcade was going to be a SciFi version of Trader Sam's. Were is Bea Aurther when you need her?

They can't do this soon enough for me. When it first opened Trader Sam's was this cool hidden thing, but then everybody and their grandmother found out about it and now it's like a circus in there.

From Wikipedia:

  • Business (Group B) - places where services are provided (not to be confused with mercantile, below). Examples: banks, insurance agencies, government buildings (including police and fire stations), and doctor's offices.
S1 is a classification for low hazard storage, so It sounds like Disney is requesting to change the building to be classified for mixed use.
