The railroad is scheduled to reopen March 7th so well before the 70th kicks off
Walls down at DCA side, so definitely a bit faster time. 6 week turn around I think?

Previously CM where in front of the new gates using their tablet to scan your pass. Last night when I went through DCA you scanned your own pass the CM was sitting behind the gates looking at the screen. Not sure when that changed. The CM then would push a button to let you in. Their screen showed your pass photo and the live cam while you are scanning your pass. Very impersonal.

Why would the CM need to physically let you in? In Paris you just scan and the gates open. In Florida they don’t even have gates.
Wondering what this actually solves
They are still in testing, so hard to know what the final form is. It’s meant to be mostly guest led, with the CM there to ensure it’s the same guest entering as photographed.

The process was a little clunky for us last week. I scan in my whole family using my app. I’d imagine the pictures are just a one time thing right? Still though those new gates open when you scan your ticket so I’m wondering how it works when one person scans for the entire fam.
Unclear if they are using that tech or not, or if it's enabled yet if so. They only started testing on all updated gates the last week or two I think?

Im definitely not a fan of the new screens over the turnstiles.
But then once you're through the gates and hit with astro turf Mickey I remember that as far as crimes against Disneyland goes, we've seen far worse the last few years.

Yeah, did this last week. Hate it. No sense of a magical welcome to the parks at all and takes longer.
You walk up, scan your own phone/magic band, look at the camera, your picture comes up from the ticket, and a new picture comes up live from the camera, they sync up, and the gates open. And you do that at each park all day as you park hop.
The cast members take much longer to get the tech to work when they are trading positions or the tech fails. And their focus is on the tech not the guests.
It's terrible guest service and not the least bit magical.

The picture is EVERY time!?
How do they handle it when one person is scanning for the whole family or group?

I saw a dad lift up his kid to reach the camera height.
The enforcement at DCA seemed less mainly because the poor overwhelmed cast members kept sighing and shrugging as people didn't wait for the camera photos to come up and just moved through the gate without the cast member being able to stop them to get them to come back and take their pics correctly. The whole thing was so disheartening.
It's terrible for cast and for guests who no longer get a cheerful welcome from the first cast member they encounter but instead no eye contact and just exasperated cast trying to get the guests through the tech.

Even if the tech and procedures have changed doesn't mean CM can't still welcome guests as they approach the terminal. Its up to each CM to still provide that welcoming feeling no matter the tech being used.
To me (without experiencing it myself yet just what I've seen online) it seems like a learning curve situation which can be overwhelming. Once things get smoothed out and CMs get used to the new tech and procedures hopefully things will get back to normal.

I think it’s growing pains also, DLParis has similar turnstiles and we liked them when we went a few years ago, it was a fast and easy process and the CMs were all friendly and welcoming.
Give it a month or 2 and it’ll probably be seen as an upgrade. (Something I wish I could say more about recent Disney changes)
