lol it’s has to be a typo. Maybe they meant one free LL multi pass for their stay? Jk.

They have some balls to drop this news this without some sort of halfway decent trade off. That’s why I was thinking some good news has to be coming soon. But then again the hotel rooms are going to be booked regardless so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Maybe the issue is that they think that the one LL entry for your entire stay is that halfway decent trade off.

Well they must do. This would have been signed off by a lot of people.

How you go from “let’s open 30 minutes early for hotel guests” to “let’s give them 1 LL” is an equation I would like to understand.

The only answer is: one would cost them a ton in labour, the other basically costs them nothing.

It’s the WDGAF equation. We know you guys are going to come anyway.

I know the two things aren't exactly related, but taking away Early Entry is my tipping point in deciding to not renew our Magic Keys next year. My wife and I had been talking about not renewing anyway because of the declining value of the MK for an out-of-towner, and now Disney is siphoning away even more value for guests. It sure doesn't make me want to give Disney two grand for a couple of Enchant Keys.

Not that Harbor Blvd is Skid Row but I think there is something to be said for staying onsite in that security bubble. Especially for those on vacation.

I'm on vacation every time I go to Disneyland. I've stayed up and down Harbor walking to and from the parks. Is there homeless? Yes. Is there a guy with a parrot? Yes, Is there a guy yelling religious nonsense? Yes. Have I felt unsafe or even uneasy? No.

And does any of this mean that the security bubble isn’t safer or more pleasant?

Pleasant, it sure is, and you pay for it.

Safer? I guess, but what is there to be afraid of? I don't mean hypothetically, but what real crimes have occurred against Disneyland guests on Harbor. I'm curious about crimes that have been reported

How could it not be safer? You have to go through metal detectors to get in. You can’t discount peace of mind in this crazy world we live in.

All I’m saying is one person made a harmless remark about feeling unsafe on Harbor Blvd and everyone jumped down their throat. I’ve walked up and down Harbor blvd 100 times. Not sure I’ve ever felt unsafe (well maybe a couple times I was on high alert) but I also grew up in the greater Los Angeles area. Some people may not be used to seeing these things. It’s certainly less pleasant than staying onsite. If I was on my once in a lifetime vacation to DLR I’d definitely prefer to stay onsite.

Oh yeah- not having to cross a cross walk or two at night with drunks or people speeding is definitely also an advantage of staying onsite. When we stay at the Westin sometimes people are flying at the Katella/ DL Drive intersection.

I guess it depends on your level of comfortability.

If seeing the "peasants" and the "great unwashed" masses on Harbor makes you feel unsafe, then I guess.

lol where’s the debate here? How could it not be less safe to not be in the security bubble, cross a cross walk (or 2) at night and walk along Harbor with the general public?

Except the poster made a blanket statement that the motels on Harbor are "less safe", not that they personally felt unsafe. And that is why everyone jumped on them. So it comes across as a bit "snobby". Because in reality they aren't any less safe, even if one may feel that way.

I mean we can go over to the security thread and see how people discuss how the Disney security bubble is a joke and is just security theater.

For me I feel just as safe on Harbor as I do inside the "security bubble".

So I think we re getting to the crux of the issue here. You took offense to the poster coming off as snobby. Because staying offsite is statistically less safe. The hotels are less safe too obviously. How can they not be? You want to tell me that you are not more safe inside the Grand Californian inside the security bubble than you are walking across the street to one of the motels on Harbor?

We can argue on how effective it is but at the very least it’s a big deterrent.

I can't speak for anyone else, I'm just saying the way it came across. Like they are too good for the low class motels on Harbor, they even named several Hotel that don't have a "security bubble" but are apparently fine a bit further away.

So it appears to be that the issue is the class of lodging not specifically being inside the "security bubble".

And so are the thousands of people walking along Harbor daily/nightly, they are a deterrent as well. It makes it less likely for any major issue to happen.

Sorry I’m done here lol. I’m not going to spend any more time hearing how outside of the security bubble is equally as safe/ secure as inside the security bubble.

They didn’t call the hotels/ motels $hitty though. They said they felt unsafe and there can be a number of reasons for that. Some of which I’ve mentioned.

Ok, so what make Hilton and Marriott just a few miles away that they specifically named feel "more safe" than the Harbor ones? They don't have a "security bubble" like the on-property hotels.

That is fine, this is why I go back to its all about comfort level.

If you feel more safe being inside the "security bubble" more power to you. I don't feel any less safe either way, and you won't convince me otherwise.

I’m not sure. I didn’t experience what they did. But I’d imagine some of the reasons could be your door isn’t facing the parking lot or outside like some of those hotels on Harbor
