Commercial 2: We see a crying Jiminy Cricket trying to cheer up Pinocchio for "never going to be a real boy".

And a obligatory sad animal shot but it's just Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz from The Aristocats.

Because Chapek is sad about Disneyland being closed meaning it won't be "more timeless, more relevant, and more Disney™"

Thank you! I'd almost forgotten what an idiotic spokesman that man is for The Brand. Almost.

Seriously, this guy is now in charge? And where's he been? Bob Iger has quit the Governor's Panel On Economic Covid Justice And Racial Equality, or whatever it was called. And Josh D'Amaro has been hanging out in Downtown Disney hugging crying CM's.

But where's Chapek? It's not like he has new lines to practice for press events that don't exist any more.

Probably locked up in his home reading How To CEO for Dummies nursing his dwindling supply of Hot Pockets and Mountain Dew: Code Red.

Don't worry, you're not the only person who keeps forgetting that Chapek has been chosen as the new CEO of Disney.

I think the vocal part of society will make it seem like no one is on Disney's side. I mean, did you see the parodies of WDW's reopening video?

Yes. They were awesome.
(Edit)
No one likes to see CMs unemployed. But Disney has become a huge monster of a corporation. They’re driven by money, just like any company. And they will try to manipulate people’s emotions to make it seem like nobody can live without Disney.

But outside the hardcore fanbase, most people just don’t care whether or not Disneyland opens this year or even next year. It’s not important. It’s an occasional luxury, not a cornerstone of their lives.

As much as I'd like to believe that everyone enjoys Disney parks as much as me, Rich is right on the point. The rest of my family enjoys Disney, but they are much more on the GP side of the parks. They'll go on a vacation every couple of years and have fun, but they and the majority of the United States' population could care less about them. The GP will put many more things above Disney parks. I will support Disneyland's opening but apart from this fanbase, the support won't get the company very far. I say go the area 51 route. If all the theme park companies band together, no one will be able to stop them.

Absolutely, but an emotionally charged commercial may have people rethink their priorities.
Not when a lot of families right now are more concerned with their family’s safety and whether or not they’ll be able to pay all their bills over the next several months.

Yes, 28,000 families are concerned right now from Disneyland not being opened. Maybe commercial number 2 should involve the CMs and their families?

The impacts of Disneyland's continued closure go beyond just families trying to make rent.

Services like the Disney Aspire program will likely be suspended (if I had to guess). Disney partnered with a variety of educational institutions- mostly online, but they were working towards in person offerings as well, and was willing to pay for college level education, as well as other online courses like Rosetta Stone for any of their CM's- even part time workers after they've worked there for a few months. I had two friends pursuing masters programs through this course. Both are now likely laid off when those notices come, further derailing their career plans.

My sister received the notice yesterday. She will he laid off effective Nov 1, and is currently in the middle of the Aspire program. This whole thing is a mess.
