Disneyland police blotter: Here are some of the crimes reported in September - OCR/SCNG

I would hope that at least something changed after the Toontown brawl. That was seriously embarrassing. I had family members texting me telling me that they were shocked and assumed Disney would have better security.
That was always the story I was told growing up. That the entire park was covered in CCTVs, and that there were plain clothes security throughout the park.

Same here! I think everyone is familiar with the 'Disney secret police' stuff. It appears not to be true.

I can imagine that part of the delay in responding to the Toontown brawl came down to Toontown's location in the park. Tucked away in the very back of the park with only one way in or out.

If the nearest security guard is in Frontierland or down Main Street, it would take them a while to get across the park and reach Toontown.

Disney has lots of security - but they still rely on police for heavy lifting. They just don't keep the police out on stage and of course try to minimize that if possible. Disney security isn't going to rush into a fight like a bouncer.

They rush in to watch potential incidents to give written statements. But as we saw, they won't interfere.

In a situation like the toon town incident I’m not sure security anywhere would have stepped in without substantial backup. I work in a casino and we have (large) security guards everywhere but they’ll still wait til they have a numbers advantage before jumping into a physical altercation

One or two guards nearby weren’t going to have any control of that situation.

That was a lie.

The Toontown brawl, with uniformed Security guards standing in the background watching, proved that.

There was one CM, one single CM, who got directly involved and tried to get the people to stop fighting and punching and swearing. He was an older gentleman, a Custodial CM literally with a pan and broom, and you can see him throughout the video. He is more of a man than all of TDA's executive men put together.

Otherwise, that 10+ minute long video is full of various CM's of authority just standing around watching and looking, a few talking into their radios or staring at their cell phones while men punch women and women flail around on the ground in pain after being punched and attacked by men. Not one single CM, except for the lone older Custodial man, tried to stop women from being beat up by men in Toontown in broad daylight.

Plenty of other Disneyland guests, men who had paid to get into the place instead of being paid to work there, got involved and put themselves in harms way to try and stop that fight and protect the women being attacked. But not a single CM, many grown men, did a thing to stop the women from being beat up.

The truth is clearly visible on the excellent Youtube videos of this 10 minute long disaster.

Not sure whether Disney or our legal system is at fault for creating situations where companies have policies against getting involved.
Bit of both, we’ve created a litigious society where lawsuits are the answer to everything.

Most companies now have a hands off approach, document it but don’t get involved because it’s not worth the financial risk.

Agree to both of those points.

The problem is that stuff like this Toontown Fight happen and become big national stories, and nearly every single CM involved looks incompetent and poorly trained, and thus Disneyland comes off looking like a complete joke.

Disneyland's Security department in particular looked the worst here. Over a period of many minutes and involving several Security CM's, they all looked and acted like the typical bumbling mall cops that they apparently are. It was a very damaging incident for Disneyland's once-vaunted "brand".

I looked up what happened with this and the guy in red (Avery Robinson) was charged with 7 felonies and hit with $1 million bail (due to his multi-state criminal history)… only to plead guilty to 1 count of felony spousal abuse in exchange for the other charges being dropped to misdemeanors. He served 6 months and was released.

Our catch and release justice system is such a joke.

Is it any wonder people act like animals now? This entire crime was caught on video, undeniable guilt, and they still struck a plea deal that resulted in a slap on the wrist for the perp.

But, man, were security guards all over my 2 year old nephew every time his Crocs fell off. :/ they were on him like 🪰🪰🪰 on 💩 ! I honestly did think about some instances that have happened in Toontown, like the b*mb a few years ago. They bungled that, but wouldn't leave the baby alone!!!

I was confused for a second. They were on him like a paint scraper on poop? Oh that's a fly and I need to increase the size of the font on my computer.

Don't worry, it wasn't just you.

I had to figure out what those little bugs were, then say it verbally out loud to get it, then I laughed at myself for being so dense. 😆

The best part about that is my phone replaces words with emojis automatically (and I can't turn this option off, either, trust me I tried), and most of the times I catch it, but this time I didn't. 🥴 😩 😂
