I need everyone's help in planning my trip! I already disclosed that (beginning this spring), I will be spending six months in Israel. I want to plan out the ultimate "on the cheap" adventure of Europe, Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, just like we did when I went to California. Instead of a week, we have six months of planning to fill! My California trip would not have been as successful as it was without without y'alls help!
Upon some initial research last night, I discovered that one way air tickets from Tel Aviv to Milan, Italy are just $49! From there, a EuroStar train pass could get me flat rate travel throughout Europe aboard the high speed rail network. Just like my California trip, I will stay at hostels and use public transportation only. It's too early right now to say which countries in Europe I will travel to, but you can definitely count on Rome, Paris (Disneyland Paris definately), London, Ibiza, and Amsterdam. Maybe Geneva, Brussels, etc.
Technicality number 1 - My sister Rachel is pregnant and is due by May. So, I'm going to have to try to arrange my air flight to Israel after her baby is born, which means I'll have to take a late May flight.
Technicality number 2 - I am getting a free one-way ticket (paid for by the State of Israel) from Newark to Tel Aviv and I am getting financial assistance of up to $1,000 a month (paid for by the State of Israel as well) and a place to stay rent-free for up to six months because I am applying for Israeli citizenship (I plan on retaining my US citizenship to become a "dual citizen"). The process includes required (free) intensive Hebrew lessens for six months five hours a day five days a week. I will have to plan all my traveling on the weekends and do the Euro tour during the break or extended holiday weekends or at the end of the lesson.
I will know more details on Monday because I have a required interview with the Israeli consulate in Miami.
In the meanwhile, let's blue sky this. What European cities should I prioritize?
