I saw a link to this article over at another board, and I'm really not sure what to make of it. At times it makes it sound like they want to build a whole Disneyland park, but other parts of the article make it sound just like some small Disney thing. But to my knowledge, the company hasn't shown any interest in Pakistan as a location. Can anyone out there clarify?

I highly doubt this. I had a similar article here in Israel, promising to bring a Disney resort to Israel. I believe both articles are false. (Anyway, what kind of a park can you build with only 16m?)

I doubt they would build anything in Pakistan...a middle east park would be an interesting idea...you have a resort in Europe..soon to be two in Asia...and two in the USA...why not somewhere in the Middle East....

That being said I think the best location is...Dubai in the A.U.E...I just saw this documentary about the country and its beautiful...very modern and home to what is considered to be the world's only 7 Star resort....and it seems like a stable country...although I'll admit I'm not too familiar with their history...

You really want a Disneyland opened up next to Osama? He'll probably try to hijack "Dumbo, the Flying Elephant."

This needs a definite hold. This would be a huge terrorist target.

Hmmm...no where in that article does it have any response from Disney. Maybe I know why though--Disney will say NO WAY!!

Not to mention that 16 million dollars can barely build a ride, let alone a theme park. Unless they have people working for nothing and are getting all the supplies for free, there is no way that this park can work.

Maybe...but it should definetely be considered for the future....when things cool down...

The Middle East has been in some form of turmoil or another for hundreds of years. It's not going to cool down anytime soon. At least not enough for Disney to even THINK about being involved with building a park in that location. Too much risk involved. And what's with the $16 million?? The story sounds a bit off.

Yup, I red the article three times looking for a mention of Disney's response to this. :p

Yeah, one part of th article made me thinik that the 16 mil was kind of a "starter" donation, but I relly didn't know what to make of it.

To risky- lets see most of the Middle East hates Americans and Europeans because of our influnce on there lives. Bring the Western biggest name Disney- then follows McD's, Sony, Coca, etc. Now wouldn't that be a nice terrorist target, but hey there gov. are the ones letting us in.

That is sooooooooooo wrong. I live in the Middle East (Israel) and the people of Israel and the palestines are both pro USA. Maybe governmant sees things differently but as a country people are very pro United States.

I remember seeing on TV the day Americans came into Iraq. The majority were thrilled to see someone put an end to Sadam's dictatorship. They only seem anti-USA because they want their country back. (From what I could tell). So please, don't jump to conclusions and generalize the whole area just because of a few wackos who hate the United States.

Thank you for your input. I am always curious as to what other people think about us.

That kinda conflicts what I have read on the situation (although I would love you to correct me with more detailed information). The Palestines are deeply anti-US due to the unflinching support the Americans show towards Israel, as well as the US funding the Israelis' military. The Palestines, in general, from what I have read, were glad Saddam had gone, but deeply oppose any foreign troops on Iraqi soil. I'm may not even be representing the Palestinian people here, but definately their leadership.

Israel is in essence a Western Country in the Middle-East, and therefore does not neccessarily follow opinions of the US in that region.

Some of the most vivid pictures I remember from the September 11 attacks were from Palestine, where they were dancing in the street from the news.

And btw, I apologise in advance if this has got too political.

The palsetines you see on T.V. or in the news are people who have seriously lost it. They are the kind that ruin it for the whole. I remember seeing many articles on the news about normal people (not terrorists or anti-americans that are extreme) that wish that there could be peace. It is rotten governmant that is leading the Palestines to the ground. It's a shame that this is the image people see when they think about the Middle East... But I guess now you can also see things differently. I bet ya that once governmant changes the people will see things clearly.

Interesting... thanks.

From where we are it just looks like one big tit-for-tat scenario. Palestines bomb Israelies, Israelies go in with tanks and helicopters to destroy Palestinians, which *recruits* more suicide bombers and so on and so on. And the impression that we are given is that the suicide bombers won't stop until the US starts being a little fairer with them.

Suicide bombers won't stop even if they get everything. They are a scary bunch that shouldn't be negotiated with. Every attack they have a brand new excuse why it is all our or the American's fault. (Sometimes it is, but mostly it is their believes which play a major role in the bombings). We go in with tanks because: A. The country really thinks that if it would kill the leaders of these activities new ones won't come. (proved to be wrong) B. They kill citizens who are innocent (sp?) who have done nothing wrong. They're not fighting an army, they're fighting a nation. They kill children without blinking. Those bombers are plain maniacs. They kill "in the name of God". Pathetic if you ask me. But, I'll repeat, the majority aren't like that and are against these actions! I just hope one day people will decide to stand against these actions!
