Where would you rather go for the 50th anniversary? WDW or Disneyland? Post why you picked the one you did.....

For me, I enjoy going to WDW rather than DL because I enjoy the numerous resorts, parks, restaurants, etc. Plus, the 50th, WDW has some new attractions I'd like to check out. But I realize most people would want to go to DL because it's DL's 50th, not WDW's..minor details!

I think the answer depends on how much time you have. DL is great for a quick trip. It's nostalgic and it's "do-able" at a relaxed pace in 4 days. WDW has SO much more to offer. Even at a frantic pace, it's hard to see/do all you want in *8* days!

Disneyland hands down. It's the whole reason why this celebration is even on! Plus, I like Disneyland's offerings much better than WDW's this year.. :D

We would go to DL because we would go to WDW this year anyway... 50th or no 50th. If we had the means we would go to DL just for the July 17th Celebration. I'll bet it will be spectacular! I've heard the fireworks alone are going to be amazing. Maybe I won the lottery last night... better check my numbers.....

The only unique aspects of the WDW Celebration are imports from other theme parks, meaning there wouldn't be THAT much of a difference going to WDW this year as compared to next year or the year after.

Disneyland, however, is the REASON why this is happening. And it looks amazing. The new fireworks and parade are to dream of, and the general upkeep is truly something to see in itself from what I've been told. I really hope we see Disneyland's management team make it over here sooner than later.

REMEMBER: DREAMS COME TRUE. I can't wait to get out there. :D

We (my son and I) get to do both! A suprise Star Wars weekend at WDW in June. Then a trip to California in July for my uncles wedding so I built 3 days at DL in. Unfortunatly my wife can't go (school), but we are also planning a long WDW trip in January.

I am in love with WDW, but I'd have to say Disneyland. I suppose I am bias because I will be there for the 50th AND I have never been to DL.. or California for that matter.

There is only one 50th!

Same with us,

We do WDW every year. So this year we are flying out to LA from Orlando to break our WDW visit and to honor Disneyland with our birthday wishes....

Remember: Dreams Come True apparently makes Illuminations RoE look like a barbeque. I am awed by Illuminations RoE, so this must be some show!

It will also mean a lot to stand in town square at the same spot as Uncle Walt, 50 years on!

Have a good weekend!

I would love to be able to celebrate at DL this year! While we love WDW, all the excitement seems like it is being generated from DL.

GOtta be DL. It's their celebration. Especially for me, though, because I haven't been to DL since I was 3, and I want to wait for Everest for WDW (although I, too, hope to make it to both this year!)

Disneyland, no question. Of the new offerings at wdw, nothing really wows me. Soarin is already at DCA, so that's not a benefit, Cinderellabration is "meh", Stitch is nothing grand, and I far prefer DL's castle layover to WDW's. So that just leaves Lights, Motors, Action!, which, while very good, doesn't compare with Space Mountain, Buzz, the parades, and the absolutely stunning Remember...Dreams Come True. I will wait to go to WDW til next year, once EVEREST opens and gives me a much better reason to return to FL (and thankfully, due to the length of the 50th celebration, it'll still be going on when I go!)

You can take a trip to WDW and see many of its new offerings any other day. At Disneyland though, its a once in a life time thing. Its more special because the magic is coming back after years of neglect, things are improving, Remember makes Wishes look like a fire cracker show, the new parade is simply stunning as well. I choose DL! :sohappy:

Disneyland is the reason for this whole 50th celebration. I'd choose it hands down. And I've always had a soft spot for Disneyland because whenever I go there I can't help thinking "Walt Disney was ACTUALLY here..." It's fabulous.

We are unable to go to either on the 17th because of family arriving here in las vegas that day, but we are planning on driving to visit disneyland on the 18th for the 50th.

This was hard to answer, because I'll actually be at both this year. Ultimately, though -- even though I grew up near Disneyland, WDW is my choice of where to celebrate.
