Hey folks!

I have one day to do either Disneyland or California Adventures. A bit of info, I went to Disneyland 8 months ago when I was in the area for Christmas (thank you to everyone who helped me plan that trip!!!) but, this time I’m taking my 9 yo cousin. He LOVES rides of all sorts so I’m definitely torn about which park to take him to. Any suggestions? We would be going on Wednesday, FYI. Thanks!

(I just did both in one day- 26 attractions in 16 hours! See this post.)

If I had to pick one park or the other, I'd do Disneyland- at least until California Adventure adds about 4 more great attractions not counting Imagineer makeovers.

I really love DCA, it's beautiful, the restaurants are good, it has some really nice rides - Soarin' and Radiator Springs Racers, etc. I always tell people that DCA is the best executed "new" park.

But if I only have one day, Disneyland is more bang for your buck. Yes, it's crowded and most of the food is basically deep fried meat on a stick. But you have all the charming old school dark rides, 4 mountains and Indiana Jones.....

Please elaborate.
Do I really need to?

The difference in experience/wonder/beauty/quality of what you're looking at per second of time spent/satisfaction/entertainment value/leave feeling like you're better for the experience....

The gulf between Disneyland and DCA is like the gulf between The Grand Canyon and Walmart. But, like that one great Walmart employee who tries to make your visit less awful, Cars Land is DCA's shining star.

As much as I think DL is a million times better than DCA, I have to add this: If your young cousin loves Cars, and if he's been to WDW recently, you should take him to Cars Land at DCA. If he doesn't care much about Cars, stick with Disneyland.

I prefer DCA over Disneyland only because i hate the packed walkways of Disneyland,The problem with DCA is the lack of attractions.
You can still do a day in DCA if you try and see everything they offer but the lack of attractions is visible compared to Disneyland

Every park at Disney World is lacking attractions if you compare them to Disneyland.

I would park hop personally. Paint the Night & Cars Land is amazing, and Radiator Springs Racers is one of my favorite theme park rides ever.

But if you can only do one park, Disneyland in a heart beat. It’s iconic, has better atmosphere (theres nothing like walking down Main Street), has better entertainment, has the iconic fireworks show, the quality of everything is better at Disneyland, more rides, Indiana Jones Adventure, Matterhorn, Space Mountain. Disneyland might be packed, but its too iconic to go to the Disneyland Resort and not do Disneyland Park.

As much as I love California Adventure, its pretty hard to spend a full park day there. I spent an entire day at California Adventure and I rode everything and was done by 4. Its a great park, but not enough stuff to do to spend a day there. But, I do have to say, if he is a big Pixar fan or likes the Cars movies, I'd do a park hopper and go to DCA to experience Cars Land, & Toy Story Mania.

So if you can do a park hopper, I would choose that. But if not, I'd do Disneyland.

I don’t know whether he’s ever seen Cars, but know he’s enamored with Star Wars.

Funny people consider Tokyo DisneySea the best park in the world yet does not have nearly as many attractions as DCA or DL yet it's still highly rated. Because its unique and different enough for it to worth a visit so I guess that something DCA lacks and your left with DL which is nice and all.
