Disneyland Munich

Having been on a trip to Europe last summer, I took some notes along the way. This was to fuel an idea of a German park, located somewhere near Munich. Of course, this wouldn't exist in real life with Disneyland Paris being a country over, but it's something I think about. Perhaps this is an alternate reality where this park was Euro Disneyland instead of Paris.

Anyways, here's what I have in mind for the resort:​

MAIN STREET, U.S.A.​

Welcome to a charming American town at the turn of the century. Done in an elegant fashion, this street tends to take in a more Victorian style than the US parks do. It also incorporates elements from the Parisian Main Street with Arcades and other European touches.

When first walking past the Disneyland Hotel, guests see a large train station with a floral Mickey face in the front of it. This station has two towers, a clock tower and another one just for decoration. This is the Disneyland Railroad Main Street Station, which departs to Frontierland. When guests go under one of two bridges, they enter the Town Square. In the center is a gazebo where bands play and characters meet. On the left side is the Chamber of Commerce and City Hall, both of which are guest service locations. On the right side is The Enchanted Bookstore, a place to buy books, and the Sorcerer's Shop, where guests can buy interactive wands to interact with around the park. Vehicles to the hub also are boarded around here, such as the Omnibus, Horse-Drawn Streetcars, and Main Street Motor Vehicles. Around here is also where parades start off.

Moving down the street, guests find more places to eat and shop. On the left side is The Emporium and Dapper Dan's Barber Shop. On the right side is Twentieth Century Traders, Colorful Candies, and Cardinal Cafe. Further on in the next block of the street is Disney Clothing Co., Polar Ice Cream, and Photo Parlor on the right and Marceline Sandwiches, Jewelry Art, and Walt's American Restaurant. On the sides of the street are the Immigrant Arcade and the Possibility Arcade, which give back-alley access to shops and restaurants. The former is a tribute to German immigrants to America while the latter is a tribute to German scientists like Albert Einstein and Sigmund Freud. These also give alternate entrances into Westernland and Possibilityland.

At the hub is a large, open space where guests are immersed in a large, beautiful garden. On the left side are entrances into Westernland and Adventureland as well as a passage into Fantasyland. On the right is another passage to Fantasyland as well as entrances to Discoveryland and Possibilityland. In the center of the hub is the Partners statue. Behind it is Snow White's Castle, a third passage into Fantasyland.

WESTERNLAND

​

Welcome to the wildest land of all, Westernland. Here, guests enter the Old West town of Thunder Springs, a once-thriving gold-mining town is alleged to be cursed. Here, a supernatural wind blows, something that is found in the mysterious island in the center of the lake r the Thunder Mesa range nearby. This area has an elaborate backstory following characters such as Bartemius W. Bullion, Henry Ravenwood, and the fierce outlaw, Black-Eye Bill.

Entering through a wooden gate done in the style of a Nineteenth Century outpost, guests walk into the town square of Thunder Springs. Here, they find the Westward Ho! Trading Company and Thunder Springs Canteen on the left and the Silver Horseshoe and the Eureka Mercantile Building on the right. In the back of the town is the boarding place for the Rolling Thunder Riverboat, which takes guests on a scenic tour of Westernland. The Thunder Springs Shootin' Gallery is also located around here, near the Eureka Mercantile Building.

Moving down south, guests enter a forest area. Here, guests can walk the Nature Trails on the left side of the path (Germans do like hiking) and eat at the Pioneer Park restaurant, which serves food from covered wagons. Nearby is also Bridger's Supply, a gift shop in a log cabin. At the edge of the forest is an old, Victorian manor overlooking the rivers, the haunted residence of Henry Ravenwood. This is where guests can go into Phantom Manor, a darker, more elaborate Haunted Mansion with a Wild West theme. It does have some differences from the Parisian version, including a "Phantom's Footprint" at the entrance (a reference to the Devil's Footprint in the Munich Cathedral), as well as a strange wind blowing nearby, six suitors of Melanie Ravenwood, only one of which lived, and new scenes featuring a library, catacombs, and more.​

Located on the Western portion of the land is a desert region. Between two entrances into Adventureland is El Fuego Cantina, a Mexican restaurant. Going more towards the Thunder Mesa mountains, guests go in between a train station and a water mill. The mill is home to a restaurant, Prospector's Plate, and the train station is the boarding place for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which is similar to the Paris version. Nearby is the Miner Merchandise gift shop. Behind these two buildings is the Disneyland Railroad Westernland Station, which goes to Fantasyland. Behind that is the Thunder Mesa range (modeled after Arches National Park), where guests go on Western River Expedition. This ride is similar to Maelstrom/Frozen Ever After where it goes forward and backwards. Guests go through the river, looking for the treasure of the feared German-American outlaw, Wilhelm "Black-Eye Bill" Baus.

ADVENTURELAND

​

Go on a globe-trotting adventure through the most exotic places in the world. Wild animals, ancient secrets, pirate treasure and more await in this land. With lots of greenery to make it appear like a jungle as well as architecture and other things to make guests feel like they are in Africa, Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Guests walk into the area through a Chinese gate, entering into an old Chinese village as they do. On the left side of the town is the Golden Dragon Restaurant and the Zodiac Market, a gift shop. On the right, side of the village is Whispering Winds Teahouse as well as Honor to Us All Boutique. The Garden of the Twelve Friends is found in the center or the village, this one circular instead of a path to take up less space.​

To the west of the Chinese village is an African village. Here, guests can eat at the Hungry Lion and shop at Safari Station. Located in the back of the village is Jungle Mountain, a train ride through the jungle with encounters with wild animals. Pretty much Jungle Cruise meets Expedition Everest, this ride goes forward and backwards and is based off of an unused concept for Disneyland Paris. The ride exits into the Curious Monkey. Located in a nearby theater is the Festival of the Lion King.​

Up north from the Chinese Village is a Central American area with old Mayan Ruins. Here, guests can board the Explorer Canoes for a scenic tour of Adventureland's waters. Lost Ruins is an exploration attraction located up north with Adventure Outpost and Explorer's Club being a nearby gift shop and restaurant. Located to the left of the ruins is a large Mayan Pyramid, where guests ride Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Golden Mask.​

Last but not least is a Caribbean village. Although it is done in British colonial style, there are some references to the Salzburg Fortress in Austria and the village of Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic. Parked in a pier near the water is the Jolly Roger, a pirate ship. Also in the area is the Swiss Family Treehouse and Treasure Falls Expedition on the left side, both of which are exploration attractions. In the center of the town is a fountain. With a Blacksmith's Shop and Pirate Booty store on the left, guests also find a restaurant, Blue Lagoon on the right, which goes into the nearby fortress. Inside this fortress is where Pirates of the Caribbean is housed, featuring references to German pirates as well as a different order of show scenes.

FANTASYLAND

​

Welcome to a land where storybooks come to life. Here, the flair of Europe's fairytales is enhanced in rides and attractions like no other. This tributes the wonders of Europe as well, including the Swiss Alps, medieval villages, and more. This also has several references to places in Europe, such as Alpine gondolas, a castle wall around the entire area, and cuisine from all over the continent.

Entering from the hub, guests can take two passages around the castle, but those going into Snow White's Castle will find an enchanting experience. Here, guests can dine in the Royal Banquet Hall, shop at Bibbiti Bobbiti Boutique, and gaze at the mesmerizing stained glass windows of the interior, which tells the story of Snow White. Going out of the castle, guests enter a Bavarian village. In the center of it is the Royal Carousel. On the left side is the Knight Emporium, which sells Medieval supplies, and the Silver Stag Inn. On the right side is A Tangled Tale, a dark ride based off of Tangled, and the Brothers Grimm Store, which sells merchandise based off of Snow White, Rapunzel, and other characters inspired by the German bards. On the other end of the square is a Alpine Gondola that takes guests up to the Matterhorn. Also in the area is the Princess Chateau on the right as well as the Storybookland Canals, which takes up the center of the land. On the left is Pinocchio's Adventure, a new take on a ride based off the classic tale, as well as Gapetto's Toymakers.

Across a small river that borders Adventureland is an area recreating the British countryside. Located in here are three attractions surrounding the area. Peter Pan's Flight is on the left, Alice in Wonderland is up ahead, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is on the right, each housed in Victorian-era cottages. Mad Tea Party is in the center of it. Located down a passageway between Pooh and Alice is the Disneyland Railroad Fantasyland Station. Also in the area is The Queen's Table and Curiouser and Curiouser as a restaurant and shop. Cheshire Treats is a snack stand.

Next to the Bavarian village is a small circus area. Here, guests can ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant and shop at the Big Top. Also in the area is Casey, Jr. Circus Train, which gives you a tour of Fantasyland from up high.

Located atop the Matterhorn basin is an Alpine village. Here, guests can eat at Village Haus on the left or shop at Alpine Chocolate or Chistmas World. Behind the village is a new version of Matterhorn Bobsleds, now taking up a few more mountains and involving a smoother track.

East of the circus is a World's Fair area, inspired by Salzburg. Nearby is the Fantasia Labyrinth, a maze depicting scenes from Fantasia. Located close by are some Salzburg-esque buildings, including Nutcracker Suite and Mozart's Kitchen, both of which are restaurants. Mickey's Philharmagic is in a theater building while "It's a Small World" is sandwiched between the two restaurants. Musical Merchandise is found near the maze.

Last but not least is a French village area, resembling ones such as Riquewhir and Kaysersberg. Bonjour! GIfts and Maurice's Traders are on both sides. Gaston's Tavern is on the left side, set across from Maurice's cottage. Going further in, guests enter a forest and stumble upon the Beast's castle. Here is where they can ride The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast, similar to the one in Tokyo. Also located near the castle is the "Be Our Guest" Restaurant.

DISCOVERYLAND

​

Throughout time, Europe has produced several great scientist and thinkers such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Albert Einstein, and Sigmund Freud as well as authors like Jules Verne and H. G. Wells. This land is a tribute to those people, showcasing their ideas and making them reality. This is a future as it was seen from yesterday, one that never became a reality in their time but now has in our time.

This land has three areas. When guests walk past a globe bearing the Discoveryland name, their first area is a Victorian-era location with inspiration from Steampunx. On the right is a big, rocky wall and a large pool, where the Nautilus is. Here, guests can ride 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, which is similar to the one in Tokyo Disneysea. They can also explore the Nautilus in Nautilus Explorations and get a snack from Submarine Snacks. On the right is Cafe Hyperion, a restaurant, and the Timekeeper, a show that was once found in Paris. At the edge of the pond is a large, mountain-shaped place with a cannon sticking out. This is the main building for Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon, a rollercoaster where guests go on a harrowing journey to space, with a Jules Verne twist. The ride exits into Baltimore Gun Club Emporium.​

On the left side of Discoveryland is a German town at the turn of the Twentieth Century. Featured here is the Scientist Exhibits, which tribute great German thinkers throughout the ages. Located in the back is Horizons, a new version of the one found in Epcot. In front of it is the Disneyland Railroad Discoveryland Station, which heads to Main Street. On the left is a passage into Fantasyland as well as a gateway to Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. On the right side is a German restaurant called Einstein Eats as well as a gift shop called Minds of the Future.​

Located to the right of Space Mountain is an Italian village, done in Renaissance style. In the center of it is the Orbitron, which is based off of Da Vinci's planetary model. On the left is Da Vinci Pizza, a pizzeria, and on the right is Visionary Supply and a path into Possibilityland. At the back of the area in a large building resembling in baroque Italian style is Soarin'. This one is like its American counterparts, except it has a little more emphasis on Europe, showing places like the Lauterbrunnen valley in Switzerland, the Cliffs of Dover and England, and a finale in Munich itself. It is also a tribute to Da Vinci's flying machine.

STAR WARS GALAXY'S EDGE​

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.........this is how every Star Wars story starts out. Now, guests are invited to take part in adventures of their own in the galaxy. This version of the land is a lot like the ones in America, but different in many ways. Although it is still set on the petrified forest planet of Batuu, it contains a few things that are unseen in the American parks.

When going in through Discoveryland, guests first enter into a Resistance camp that has set up near a mountain. Here, guests go in the base and ride the immersive attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, where they are taken aboard a Star Destroyer and must escape. Near the exit of the ride is Resistance Supply, which sells merchandise themed to the Light Side (Republic/Rebellion/ Resistance/Jedi). Near a replica of Poe Dameron's X-Wing is the Refuel Station, a former cargo bay converted into a cafeteria for the Resistance.

Located in the center of the area is Black Spire Outpost, an old Hyperspace stop that has become a den of scoundrels. Here, guests can enter through the bazaar, which features the shops Creature Den, Outer Rim Outfitters, and Toys of Tatooine. On the other side of the bazaar is a town square with the two big shops in the middle. Droid Depot is a place to build custom Astromechs while Lightsaber Smith is a place to build lightsabers. Located up north is the Anzellan Antiques shop, named after the crafty species that Babu Frik comes from. Nearby is an walkthrough Millennium Falcon as well as the station for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. The ride introduces a new technology called Time-Jumpers, which explains how the ships can go from the area's setting in the Sequel Trilogy to places during the Original and Prequel Trilogies. The ride exits into Hyperspace Hangar. Located south of it is Oga's Cantina, a restaurant, as well as First Order Cargo. Set between a pair of TIE Fighters, this shop sells merchandise themed to the Dark Side (Separatists/Empire/First Order/Sith). Several Milk Stands are set around the area.​

Finally, bordering Tomorrowland is another attraction, which is set in an abandoned Jedi temple. Here, guests go on Trials of the Lost Temple, where guests go through to find a lost weapon and face many obstacles. Nearby the temple is the Cave of the Force, where guests go through the currents of time and encounter characters from the Light Side, Dark Side, and Scoundrel Side (which is an in-between place where characters like the Mandalorian and Grogu meet).​

POSSIBILITYLAND

​

Done in advanced futuristic style, this part of the park opens a world of many possibilities. Although it is not a realistic view of the future, it is still full of optimism and excitement. This is done in futuristic styles that have become popular in Germany.

Entering into the land, guests first come across the Jet-Pacs in the center, which is based off of technology advancements. On the right side is Electric Autoway, which serves as the park's Autopia attraction. Located nearby on the right is the Tech Deck, an outdoor restaurant. It is placed near Big Hero 6: Rise of the Electrobots, which is similar to Monsters, Inc. Ride-and-go-seek. Robot Bay is a gift shop.

Located further down is an area themed to Outer Space. Here, guests can take part in the Stitch Encounter or Buzz Lightyear's Laser Run, both of which exit into a gift shop called Star Traders. Near a large lake with the solar system in it is Mission: SPACE, a similar version to the Epcot attraction. Space 220 is a restaurant nearby, located near an entrance to Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. The Astro Emporium is located near Discoveryland's entrance. Interestingly, the attraction features spacecraft from the German Space Association.

Locates across the lake is the large, futuristic structure of the Grid. Guests can design things of their own in the Digital Design Studio. They can also ride the resort's fastest coaster, TRON Lightcycle Power Run. The ride exits into The Power Store while the End of the Line Club serves as a restaurant.​
