Hello looks like we might go to Disneyland this year and use the Southern California City Pass that lets you go to Disneyland, California Adventure, Universal, Sea World, and the choice of San Diego Zoo or the San Diego Animal Safari Park. The resort at Disneyland are really expensive they don't have any value type resorts so look for places to stay and other info on Disneyland. If you can help let me know thanks!

Go to a site like kayak.com and search hotels based on proximity to Disneyland. There's at least a dozen affordable ones that are right across the street.

And to follow up what Laura said, if you book far enough in advance you can get them pretty cheap, I booked one for July back in December for around $60 a night...

The Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian are incredibly fabulous...but yeah...totally not budget friendly. and unlike WDW, there's no real perk to staying in them.

You are gonna need a car to do everything on that pass, but I agree there are a lot of sweet deals you can get for the motels across the street from Disneyland, that allow you to walk to the Disney parks!

If you have only been to WDW...Disneyland is such a strange jarring kind of feel.

It almost appears that Disneyland is like a strip mall plunked down in the middle of a busy residential neighborhood.
I mean...of course it's not. And once you get inside the magic takes you over completely...

but it doesn't have the same huge amount of space between the parks and civilization that you find in Florida.

When they say that a motel is across the street...they really mean it. You can almost throw a stone and hit the monorail.

yeah we are driving from Nebraska so will have a car. That Southern California City pass seems like a great way to save money. We were looking at the Quality Inn or the Jolly Roger Hotels does anybody have a preference we want to stay under a $100 dollars a night. I would love to stay in the Disney Hotels but they are just crazy expensive.

A good thing to do with those is to go to a site like expedia or kayak and check the ratings, some of the hotels around there that are cheap are suppose to be really great some are pretty old and are not so great. NemoRocks, makes several trips to DL a year and has stayed in several different hotels, he might be able to help you more...
