I noticed that in Disneyland there is only going to be four different areas, Main Street, Adventure Land, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland! Does anyone know why this is like that?

I honestly don't know why. I'm guessing its a cost cutting effort, seeing that there is no Frontierland.

I understand that despite cutbacks, the general public will like this park, but why are they trying to boost the HK economy with half a park? ( I had harsher words, but they don't fit since the Imagineers are doing their best with the money they are given. I can't call it a half-@ssed park.)

it may not be that . Consider this when Dl opened there was no New Orleans squate, that was added later and Tommrow land wasnt finished fully yet. and when Mk was opened there was no SM. PotC, BTMR,MTT,CoP, TTA(Peoplemover) Sky jets, etc. these were all added later. or maybe Frontier land wouldn't fit the culture, who knows, Look If they were to open a full park then there would be nothing to add later and keep guests comming back

It is. This park will be second only to Disney Studios Paris in it's lack of quality.

>>>the general public will like this park<<<

No, the Chinese will like it because they have not been accustomed to anything better. If it were built over here the American audience would probably riot.

>>>the Imagineers are doing their best with the money they are given. I can't call it a half-@ssed park.<<<

Barry Braverman is on the project, so feel free to do so. I doubt his team will even *try* to build a quality park with the peanuts they were given.

That's because Walt didn't have the money.

That's because Disney at the time did not have the money.

Disneyland Paris and Epcot Center were full parks, and they added many new attractions to keep people coming back. Imagineering still has dozens of concepts for these two parks alone that would make blockbuster attractions, but the damned accountants refuse to give any greenlights.

It's because they are worried about spending money, but do ya blame them. There stock is falling attendance is still down, and the anniversary of 9/11 is coming up, and of course not many people will be traveling, so that mean much less money!

Yes, because with the sole exception of September 11th (and other than the expected dip in attendance next weekend the effects of 9/11 are pretty much behind us on the domestic front) all of Disney's problems- the falling stock price, rapidly declining attendance and ratings, poor box office earnings- all stem from Disney's own mismanagements.

The main reason for Hong Kong being small is budget related, but it is to prevent another disaster like what happend when DLP opend. Disney is trying to start small and if it works with the culture they will add more too it. However if it does not do as well as they planned it will be easier and more cost effective to re-strucutre half a park rather than a whole park. Rember Disney is actually only paying for a small percentage of the park Hong Kong gov is taking most of the burden. Again they would like a small problem then a big problem resulting from failed atendnce in hopes to keep good ties, so that once a favorable atedance has been reached HK gov will be willing to fund more projects in the area.

While certaintly many other Disney projects have been sliced and diced due to the Pre$$ler regime this one is actually more of a precuationary step.

Maybe they don't want what happened in EuroDisney Fronteirland was planned and with BTM being an island and the whole Thunder Mesa town, Phantom Manor on a hill, geyser area etc. It became huge meaning Adventureland was tiny and think about there are more possiblities for Advenutreland rides that Fronteirland ones.

PLUS I wish everyone would stop slagging off WDS I love it, yes its small but it will get bigger and looks like a studios with all the buildings being sound stages. Just give it time and treat it like a new land.

But DLP's problems stemmed from the overbuilding of resorts, and not the park itself. I mean, they build a resort a short train ride away from Paris, and then include a link from Paris to DLP itself! What were they thinking?

That's what I meant.

New Orleans Square is a mini-land in my book. Its mere existence was for HM and PoC. At WDW, they incorporated PoC into Adventureland, and Haunted Mansion was part of Frontierland/Libery Square (whose mere existence was for the Hall of Presidents, originally meant for Disneyland.)
