Disneyland, Feb 2007. Be there, or be elsewhere :)

sweet, the soda fountain is pretty cool. Its very old-fashined-y. You should check out the showings/events at the El Capitan while you are there. Once in a while they have some cool showings/panels/discussions on old films/cartoons, if you're in to that. I've never been there, but I've always wanted to go to a nice theater like that.

We were thinking of going February 16-20--can anyone tell me how the crowds are at this time. This will be our first trip to Disneyland and wanted to know if we could get it all during that trip?

The crowds are still usually light at that time but weekends are always crowded. You shouldn't have any problem seeing it all. Have a great time:wave:

Just got back from staying at the Sheraton Anaheim on Disneyland Dr....AMAZING hotel and very large rooms. (Of course paying $49/night doesn't hurt either.)
Gotcha beat... $29/nt with breakfast at the HI Express across the street from DLR. :D

It should be pretty slow. I'm planning on driving up to Hollywood for a day to go to the Disney Soda Fountain/El Capitan Theatre... and try to convince my travel partners that going to Burbank to catch a taping of Leno IS a good thing. Maybe put some flowers on Walt's grave (seriously) at Forest Lawn Cemetary in Glendale... if we can get in, and find the grave.

And I don't think we'll be missing anything at DLR when giving up a day to do ancillary Disney related activities

You're trying to compare the Anaheim Sheraton with the HI Express, sorry but I will pay the extra $20 bucks
Well, if I want to compare... last trip, I stayed at the Orange County Hyatt on points, and got upgraded into a HUGE 2 bedroom suite. This trip I wanted to cash in AA miles for a few nights at the grand californian, but I'd rather save the miles for more travel.

Oh, fyi.. the HI Express is actually ranked higher on Tripadvisor than the Sheraton :) And it's also a much newer property. And being PC Platinum, I'll enjoy my free upgrade to a suite :D

I travel way too much for work (greetings from Tampa today)... I know which hotels I prefer.

Who cares about trip advisor, I have been to both hotels and the Sheraton is much better. BTW I travel a lot also a week after I get back from WDW in Feb I travel to Maui on a business trip and staying at the Maui Grand Wailea. Anyways have a great rime at DL:wave:

I've been to them as well... I like Starwood, and I'm Plat with SPG... but I haven't found many Sheratons I like. I try to stick to W's and their higher tier brands :)

If it wasn't $29, I'd probably stay on property

If the MCO-ATL leg is late, you're screwed. Unless it's the same plane, your bags won't likely make it with you either :(

I'm leaving from SRQ-ATL (Flt# 1564), I called Delta tonight and they said that the connection shouldn't be a problem (Flt# 445).

At least there is another flight to SFO from ATL that leaves 2 hours and 20 minutes after the first flight (Flt# 582). So the way I look at it is if I miss the first one I shouldn't have a problem getting on the second as long as there are seats available. The worst part would be is I get into SFO 2 hours later then I wanted to.
Things like that are among the reasons I don't fly DL anymore :)

They tell you that now. When you miss your connection, all of a sudden it's your fault that you booked your flights this way, and you are stuck paying a walkup fare for your missed connection because no changes can be made to a segment on an itinerary once it's begun.

Sadly, this has happened to me not once, but twice, on Delta.

At least WN pretends to give a damn about it's clientele. Delta, for an airline operating under bankruptcy protection, seems to enjoy alienating its clientele.

Anyone know when they are supposed to be done re-painting the castle?

As far as I know, the castle is being painted in phases, and I believe at least one phase is done by now. From what I've heard the whole thing will be completed by the end of February. This kind of stinks for us, because we're going to be there Feb 11-15, and hope our castle pictures don't feature too much scaffolding.

update!

We decided against laying flowers on Walt's grave. As much of a fan as I am, we decided that it would just seem a bit creepy... especially knowing where his grave is located in such a private cemetary.

So instead, we have an "in" to get us into WDI and possibly The Walt Disney Studios on Friday... also, we are gonna still hit the Disney Soda Fountain in Hollywood

Just an FYI. Only the very right side of the castle (looking to FL) and the left of the back (looking to Main Street) are boarded. You can still get a nice picture or two.
