Disneyland Fantasmic Dragon Engulfed in Flames

Not having the dragon is bad… but that abysmal state the show is in right now is an embarrassment to Disney. Totally inexcusable.
Ok? I don't believe I've ever said the show was in good shape currently. So I'm sorry if you got the wrong impression from my post thinking that I think the rest of the show is fine minus the missing animatronic.

I hope the lack of maintenance/upkeep isn’t a sign they’ve decided to repurpose the DL ROA area also. F! used to be one of the resorts premier events, seeing it in this state has me worried its days are numbered, especially considering DL has eliminated nearly every show requiring live actors over the last several years.
I think DLR can't really fully get rid of the ROA without a ton of work because of the dark water system.

I don't think they've lost interest in Fantasmic or the river, I think it's just a situation where the following has happened:
1.) There are a LOT of Disneyland refurb projects going on at the moment, and
2.) They anticipate that a new dragon will be coming and there will already be downtime coming eventually as a result of that. So they are reluctant to take the show down now when they anticipate in the near future that they will need to do that anyway.

I don't want to pretend this is set in stone or I have a source; it is simply what makes the most sense to me.

I just watched a multicam recording on YouTube, and it's shocking to me just how far a gap there is between DHS' version of this show and Disneyland's. I already preferred the WDW version because I grew up on it, but there is absolutely no contest now.

It’s unbelievable.

I can’t believe we live in a world today where I can say that right now WDW’s version is actually the better version of this show.
Never thought I would ever say this, as Disneyland’s original always had the upper edge.
But currently, oh hell no.

WDW’s version currently captures the magic that is missing from the Disneyland version and it pains me to say that!
Just…unbelievable that I am uttering these words.

Dang we need that dragon back.

Hoping the talk I have heard about how awesome this new model will be ends up being true.
It will be well worth the wait if that is indeed the case.
Here’s hoping….
Disneyland deserves better!

Fantasmic was the reason I fell in love with Disneyland as a kid, became a fan, became obsessed. The state it’s in, the way they let the show play in this state over and over, it’s just so disgusting and sad.

I always said Disneyland had the best version, but it’s not true these days. DHS clears the original by a mile now.

They need to shut it down, give it a major refurb, restore the Evil queen sequence, fix the show. Bring back its old glory.

Never understood why the steamboat's lights don't come on right away with the sparklers. It would help greatly for situations like this when pyro is turned off/not used.
At DHS, the steamboat lights do come on with the spinner sparklers, so it acts as a B-mode regardless.

Also Maleficient didn't even run around on stage since her lift is still broken. This is probably F-mode tbh.

The steamboat lights being off is a holdover from the way the show was intended to be, before Davison got his hands on it.

Before 2017, the scene built emotionally. Just the sparklers- then the ship ignites- then the water fountains/pyro builds until the finale. And honestly it was incredible, the sum was greater than its parts.

Ever since 2017 the timing is all screwed up. They forgot that sometimes less is more- now it's everything they got, the whole time. It's better now than in 2017, but still not where it should be. So now it's sorta pointless to not have the steamboat lit up.
