Disneyland briefly hits capacity during Dapper Day event

If you want to be technical Dapper Day at MK would involve 70s clothes.

I was thinking the same thing. The event began as a tribute to the way families dressed at DL in the 50s and early 60s. WDW guests were tacky right from the start. :p

Here are guests at MK in 1972 - one year after the park opened - definitely not Dapper

Dapper Day was created mostly as a fun way to go back to the days when going to DL was a dress up affair. If you look at all the old photos of DL everyone is dressed nicely. Some people go vintage and dress like they would have in the 50s and 60s, and some just dress in nice clothes. I really want to go to a Dapper Day one of these days.

I know I wouldn't want to wear a suit in the Florida humidity....but what do I know, I'm just an East Coast kinda guy who wears "jorts" from Walmart ;)
It is all about choosing appropriate clothes. Most people don't wear such clothes often, so they consistently buy the wrong thing and end up uncomfortable and even looking a bit ridiculous.

If you want to be technical Dapper Day at MK would involve 70s clothes.
Then most of the people at Disneyland get it wrong, because there definitely is more of an emphasis on a 1920s-1940s look.

Yeah they seem to have expanded the definition to be any kind of dress up style between the 1920s up until the early years of Disneyland.

I was at last September's Dapper Day. It was the last day of our honeymoon. For the second half of the day, I wore my wedding dress (looks like a vintage 50's dress) and my husband wore the shirt and vest he had on at our wedding. It was definitely a fun experience! But it was packed - probably didn't help that it was also the opening day of Ghost Galaxy and the nightmare HM overlay.

I agree that its more of a locals thing...its hard to pack nice clothes in a suitcase, not to mention a hair curler and make-up, and dress shoes and fancy hats. Some people were really dolled up and it just looked fantastic.
