I though the baggage handling was seprate from Disney, so I don't think thats part of the 28,000. They got rid of their own valet service yeas ago.

Why have I never had a lovely lunch on that balcony?

My sister and I had a lovely lunch there during our February trip. She was a bit disappointed to not be inside the restaurant but as two chilly northern tourists it was a real treat to dine on a patio and enjoy the sun and palm trees during the dead of winter. I want this all to be over so I can visit California again. :(

"Disneyland security guards, attraction operators and meet-and-greet characters are among the thousands of employees at the Anaheim theme park swept up in the massive layoffs coming to the Disney parks division.

Disney has notified Teamsters Local 495 and the Independent Employee Service Association that its Disneyland and Disney California Adventure employees will absorb more than 1,800 of the 28,000 layoffs coming to the Disney Parks, Entertainment and Products division, according to the unions and published reports."

My girls previous Kindergarten teacher, 20 plus years at Disneyland as a parade/Fantasmic performer and now parade lead, only worked on weekends occasionally, just got her layoff notice. She was literally zero expense to them at this time as her insurance was through the school district.

That one isn't unexpected since they aren't doing baggage service now. Honestly, I am not sure if this is good or bad that the baggage service isn't being included. On the one hand, I really liked being able to fly into MCO and go to my resort without stopping at baggage claim. On the other hand, this now gives me flexibility of other nearby airports that may be smaller and easier to deal with, as one of the biggest advantages of Magical Express is gone.
Orlando International is the most direct to Disney. Sanford and Tampa airports are further away.

My family has been to both CA and FL. They would strongly beg to differ. The one plus of CA parks is the beautiful weather year round.
Ummm...not so sure about that. I’ve been there several times, including the end of June 2019. I needed a hoodie in the early AM and at night. For someone who grew up in NJ and now lives in the Orlando area, California is close to last on my list as far as places I’d prefer to live in. Especially after this year’s political B.S. that they’ve been pulling. On the flip side, I got to go inside Elvis’s Beverly Hills house. I took my 3rd tour of the Disney Burbank Studios, once as a Disney Store Cast Member and my second as a non Cast Member, including Walt Disney’s office. AMAZING! But do I want to live there? LOL...

Only said the weather is ideal in CA, never said about the outrageous cost of living, political climate etc.

That's a lot of CM's in those departments.

It's obvious that when they reopen, they are thinking they will be at a very limited 7 or 8 hours per day operation for quite some time.

I didn't know Casey's had piano. The one time I ate at refreshment corner they started doing audience participation games and my wife and I were exhausted from the day and wanted to relax. We just got up and left while the Mad Hatter was trying to get us to join in.
How dare that mad hatter! Always up to something. Lol.

Yes both have a Ragtime piano player. Here’s Jim, he started at Disneyland but has been the full time piano player at Casey’s for 30+ years.

And here’s my favorite from Disneyland, Andrew. (Don’t tell the others, they are excellent too!).

Only in California would someone break out the gloves when it gets to 59 degrees! Haha. The five and dime players were wearing gloves too on that trip.

I actually asked Andrew about them, and he said he was having fun seeing what works better / worse when playing with gloves. He said he was able to do some slides that would otherwise hurt his fingers.

Not the sharpest tool in the shed, is she? Take their saleries and even if cut to zero, it.would pay for a couple hours, at lost for each of the laid off employees.
