Disneyland After Christmas?

Hi! My husband and I are thinking of taking a trip to DLR after Christmas maybe around Dec 29 and coming back on the 2nd. We would like to see the Christmas decorations and ride overlays. Will the Christmas parade and other Christmas events still be going on then? Will they still be running the Holidays tour. I am assuming it will be crowded but if we go it is only possible at that time. We could maybe go around November 14th but will Christmas decorations be up by then? Thanks for any help or advice!

Everything depends on this:

Would you rather visit DL during its most crowded week of the year, or when you can breathe?

The Christmas decorations and shows should be out by November 14, and definitely by the 16th or 17th.

Go in November.

The week between Christmas and New Years is the very busiest week of the year. If you go, expect the parks to close their turnstiles due to overcrowding in the afternoons. November will be modestly busy, but far less tragic than the days after Christmas. The decorations will be up in full by November 14th.

Please don't go to the parks when schools are out due to winter break. The crowds are intolerable.

Good advice, except that I'm a teacher and I can really only go when school is out on break. The only way I was thinking about November 14 was to take my two personal days and make a long weekend.

If you can go during November, go. The week after Christmas is miserable in a way that's almost impossible to imagine until you're in the middle of it and wanting to die.

Wow, that sounds kind of dramatic! :) Is it really worse than the peak of summer? I was just there a week ago and it seemed the most crowded I've ever seen it.

It is worse. It is the worst. There have been no phased closings this summer, despite attendance records being set due to the 60th push. The week after Christmas ALWAYS has phase closings, every day. Disneyland will close its gates for hours and will be beyond uncomfortably full.

Avoid it at all costs.

I remember going in December once just to pick up something for my dad, and it was so crowded, all the incoming guests had to be shuffled in through backstage. Crazy crowded.
