Disneyland 50

Since Disneyland is turning 50 next July, I thought about making my first trip to the "original" Disney Theme Park. I'm thinking of going in October of 2005. Has anyone gone to Disneyland? Is it worth it? I know someone who went there ten years ago and all they said was "It's Small. Very, Very Small!"
I thought this would be the one and only chance I would have to go to Disneyland, so I'm looking for some advice and what to do. Well, not advice on what to do, but things I should not miss. I've read DL PotC is much better than WDW so that is a must see for me, but what else? Also Where to stay and where to eat in the parks? I looked at the Disneyland web page on Disney.com and saw only three hotels on property that I can't afford. I also saw a good neighbor package and there is a hotel across the street from DL that is in my price range, Moderate, called the Carousel Inn. Any body heard of it or stayed there? And lastly is CA that bad? Is it even worth doing?

Do it!!!

If you like Disney, and WDW, you will love Disneyland (and DCA). Small is not really a correct summary as Disneyland has as much if not more to offer than the Magic Kingdom. There are unique offerings, and in October you will get to experience Haunted Mansion NBC which is almost worth the visit by itself.

Unfortunately in October, the castle will still be covered and some other areas deep in construction...but there is a lot more!

In spite of what many say, DCA is also nice to visit. If you will be there multiple days and get a multiple day park hopper, you won't feel cheated by time spent in DCA. Grizzly River Run is a great water ride, Tower of Terror California Screamin and Soarin' are must do's...oh yea, the Aladdin show is also a must do.

The low price hotels around the park are fine, and there are many you can walk to the park from. There are more day trippers so don't need as many hotels as in Fla.

Check out the Disneland forum at this site or others focusing on Disneyland.
