Disneyland 1986 Star Tours TV Special!?!

Oh man, I found a really horrible copy of this special on a an old VHS tape in my closet.

The special aired in late 1986, runs just over 15 minutes, and was hosted by Gil Gerard (Buck Rogers in the 25th Century) and Ernie Reyes Jr along with C3PO and R2-D2. Michael Eisner also took time out of his schedule to talk about space travel and the Disneyland attraction. The special wanders around space travel, and old sci-fi flicks, but also has breif shots of behind the scenes Star Tours footage.

I would love to encode and share this video with everyone, but my copy is really REALLY bad. To see a sample, go to http://www.popkid.com/enhance .

I was wondering if anyone might have a better version of this special on tape, or know where I might be able to find one....

Here are some images from the video:

uh oh Grizz,

If YOU never even knew this existed, that doesn't fill me with confidence in finding a better copy :(

I do have hope that since it's somewhat star wars related, collector nerds might have it somewhere.

Hopefully, the force will be with us...

I will do my best to capture the best quality video of the special I can from the tape I have - as DVDJedi said, it's better than nothing...

HELP ME WDWMAGIC FORUMS, YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE!!!!!

Honestly, popkid, I am NOT a source for this kind of material. Trust me on this one! ;)

Luckily, I know a few contacts who might have this thing, and I will put in my request.

It exists, do not lose hope. . . it will surface. :)

The Star Wars Holiday Special isn't elusive... we just like to pretend it never existed! *shudders at the thought of Carrie Fsher singing*

I'll keep an eye out for this one!

I have an mp3 of Carrie Fisher singing if anyone would like it :)

No?

Yeah, didn't think so. That special is bad with a capital B! I try to watch it every now and then but the 45 minutes of wookie talk in the begining just give me a headache.... And the haircuts.... whoa those haircuts :)

Ok, back to the hunt for the Star Tours special now :)

OK geek time for me. I had this on tape some place but lost it!!! But this was one of my fav things Wonderful World of Disney did back then. The reason it was those two actors is cause Disney was pushing a show they did a few times on WWoD called "Sidekick" and I think it went on to be a weekly (if not very weakly) show. I remember the part with C3PO rapping as being funny even back then. I have been looking everywhere for a good copy of it but other then you it seems no one else remembers it. Also the things that after all these years that bugged me about it was 1. the go in through the exit of the cabin and 2. it was a friggin dream at some part. Gotta love the 80's if something is lame it was just a dream HA HA HA
