Hi, this is my first post so please bear with me. I am going to the Yacht club in November with my family and received an email saying that refurbishment work was happening during this period already had to move from wilderness lodge due to this occurring there. Does anybody know what this will consist off? I would be grateful for any advice thanks

The short version is the refurb will take a number of rooms out of service that they were not expecting and they need to move you to another resort.

If you choose to accept this it means that you will simply go to the Wilderness Lodge instead of the Yacht Club when you arrive in November.

I however would not accept this without a little bit of a fight.

While Wilderness Lodge is a deluxe resort many would consider it a downgrade from the Yacht Club. The Yacht club is walking distance to 2 parks and 4 other resorts and has the best pool on property.

I would call and if they must move you, I would ask for Club level at either Beach Club or Boardwalk. You can tell them that the Yacht Club's location was your primary reason for selecting it and getting moved to Wilderness Lodge is simply unacceptable.

If Wilderness Lodge is the only option, I would push for Club Level or a larger DVC room at minimum.

Thank you for your reply we have already moved from the Wilderness Lodge to the Yacht club due to refurbishment there. We are going for 14days with my parents who would want to come back and rest which is why we have already moved to the yacht club because of the concern around noise. Being from England not very good at complaining or don't really know who to speak too.

Did you book through a travel agent or directly through Disney?

EDIT: I misread your original post. I thought Disney was making you move resorts during the refurb so disregard pretty much everything I said.

The refurb at the Yacht Club should be fairly non-intrusive unless you are there mid-day and even that should not be a problem.

They're refurbishing the Yacht Club guest rooms, and construction noise could be an issue (saws, hammering and such). It's not nearly as extensive as what's going on at WL. Common areas at YC will not be affected (meaning you likely won't even see construction equipment or vehicles or workers).

I stayed at Beach Club last year while it was undergoing its own refurb and the construction noise was not intrusive; we heard some banging overhead for a little while one day and that was it. They had whole floors/wings blocked off at a time to minimize impact on guests.

Whether you hear anything at all will depend on how much you're in your room during the day, and how close you are to the block of rooms they're working on during your visit. YC is BIG, so you might simply request "room far from construction area" and never notice a thing.

I personally wouldn't hesitate to stay at YC in the middle of a refurb like this. However, I'm not coming for 2 weeks from overseas. If it sounds at all concerning, call your TA or whoever you booked with and request a switch to BC or Boardwalk.

You shouldn't notice much as they will be doing the room refurbishment floor by floor. You might hear a little noise during the day but it really shouldn't be anything major. One option to look at would be moving to the Beach Club (which is next door), as the rooms have already been updated there and are really nice. My last visit to the Yacht Club was less then stellar.

Thank you for all your replies we rang the number in Great Britian but was just told that if we were unhappy when we got there to complain and have a magical day. I don't think they understand that we may not be spending every minute of everyday in the park and on other trips to Disney we have been up at 4.00am due to jet lag but still nothing we can do about it

I think you will be fine. Disney knows that people do not want to be near construction and does everything they can to keep guests as far away from it as possible.

If you do run into an issue, it has been my experience that they will move heaven and earth to make you happy.

You should stay at Yacht Club.

I have been in touch with their front desk and they are expecting completed rooms available for end of October.....so you may get a brand spanking new room!!
