Disney Yacht Club guidance

Hi,I’m looking for some guidance and help please.

We’re a family of 4 staying in the yacht club for the first time, and due to stay for 2 weeks as travelling from the UK.

We’ve previously stayed at the Beach Club and have experience of which rooms to request to get a good sized room and a larger balcony. However unsure which rooms to request at check in for yacht club.

We’ve booked for a water/pool view as we did with beach club.

However from experience some rooms have larger balcony’s and larger floor space (usually with the day bed),

Any tips are appreciated

Thanks

When we stayed at YC, we ended up on a ground floor room with a patio. From what I recall, the Juliette balcony concern with BC isn't really much of an issue with YC and I can't say I've seen a two queen room at YC that didn't have sofa/day bed. Based on where we ended up, I would recommend pushing for a more centrally located room. We were at the very end of the resort and could see the Dolphin through the foliage. I just felt like we always had such a hike to get to our room. Not sure why it bothered me so much, but we've stayed in the Garden Wing of the Contemporary and at AKL and had walks that I know some people wouldn't like, but YC was the only one where it bothered me.

Thanks, know what you mean about the walk. First time at BC we were almost the furthest away garden view room from reception. Garden view meant tree hanging over the balcony. Bit a trek but the benefit would have been even closer to Epcot via stairwell exit.

All rooms at YC have a proper balcony, unlike BC. Room size is pretty standard also, except for maybe the odd corner room that might have a little more square footage. I was in one of those a few years back that did not have a daybed, just an extra chair and ottoman, and it felt a bit more spacious than a standard 2 queen with a daybed.
Those are rare, though, and the vast majority of 2 queen rooms have a daybed.

My request at YC (and it sounds like it should be yours, too) is always “NEAR LOBBY, preferably 2nd floor”. When you’re out in the far reaches of YC, that walk can feel endless, and if I’m lucky enough to get the 2nd floor, I can just take the stairs up and down instead of waiting for the elevators.

I would make any requests now over the phone, in order of their importance to you, and call again 5 or 6 days before arrival to reiterate. And honestly, with a stay that long, if your room is not to your liking when you arrive, nicely ask for one that suits your needs better. You might not get everything you want, but if they can accommodate you, they will, even if it means waiting a few days and moving. Y&BC have excellent management and front desk CMs, at least in my experience. Happy planning!

We had a room location during our recent stay that was by far the best I ever encountered at the YC. The room number was 5197 and the balcony overlooked Stormalong Bay and faced EPCOT so it was a perfect viewpoint of Illuminations each night. Additionally, the room was close enough to the elevators without being too close for noise reasons.

If you want to be more specific I would have a look at the resort plans on touringplans.com. You can search for ‘yacht club room finder touring plans’ and it’ll show you floor by floor the layout of the resort and every room. It’s a great tool! :)
