I didn't mean that region was insignificant. You're right; you can put a UK DVD in a US player all you want, and it's not going to work. I just meant that the region has nothing to do with the content of the DVD itself. It's not like trying to put a VHS tape in a CD drive; it's like trying to get into your car with the wrong key. Regions are just a superfluous line of code intended to prevent piracy. They don't really need to have a region on the planning DVDs... they already give them away for free. Every one that's copied and given to someone else still promotes the parks and actually saves Disney money because they don't have to burn the DVD, package and ship it. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if they were region 1.No it doesn't haveto have one but most DVDs do. I'm not sure what region the Planning DVDs are, I'll have to take a look by putting my UK one in my US player
Region isn't just a silly number, If I bought a DVD from the US and brought it back to the UK it will not work. It will only work in multiregion players which are expensive and somewhat hard to find or a player imported from that region and even then the resolution will be a problem on a non plasma/LCD tv.
Most Region Free or Region 0 DVDs are fakes bootlegged in China.
Edit: and many cheap players are easy to change to region-free.
