I've been to Disney World 23 times and will be going for the 24th time this October (which is no small feat figuring I'm 21 from upstate New York). I have never been in October, we always go in the summer time. What is to be expected of the length of the line's and what is the normal October temperature. Thanks

If you are used to going in the Summer, October will be a piece of cake. In comparison the temperatures are a bit cooler, (though there is an occassional hot one.), and the lines are a bit shorter. It is also a bit easier to get your fast passes. When we go it has actually, been mainly in October. Have fun.

I'll pretty much repeat what's already been said...

Temps are generally a little cooler (and you have the sun setting earlier in the evening) but last Oct. was extremely hot.

Compared to summer, October will feel empty! My parents walked on Soarin' with no wait!!!

When are you going?

You may see some crowds at EP due to the Food & Wine Festival throughout the month, but otherwise they will be a lot less then what you're used to seeing during the summer.....

October a few years ago we had a record high one day and a record low the next. We travel from up north so we were well prepared for a little cool weather. We've been able to walk on ToT right up to the library. October is our favorite month. Love MNSSHP.

Just chiming in as well, October is generally a great time to go. Crowds are more manageable and temps and humidity are lower (should be around the low to mid 80s); it just makes for a much more pleasant time to be in the parks. :)

It is my favorite time of year to visit! :D

The crowds are very manageable compared to the summer as is the weather. MNSSHP is a lot of fun and we had no problems getting on the attractions during the party, most were walk-ons or 10min waits. I agree with others that the F&W Festival at Epcot draws in the crowds, but once again...nothing unmanageable.

I have been to WDW 3 times in October and for the most part the temps are comfortable, although like someone said they set record highs a few years back. Lines are very manageable, one trip I only needed fastpasses for TSMM, everything else was under 30 minute waits. I will be there from the October 10th to the 17th. If you see a 24 year old man in a toothfairy costume at MNSSHP that would be me!

Yes, tons of adults dress up! Our family dressed in theme last year - Hitchihiking ghosts. You can see some of our photos in my profile. I'd say there were equally as many adults dressed up as not - and not all with kids, by far!

Crowds are very low in mid October after Columbus Day and before Halloween. Only Epcot gets a bit more crowded later in the day due to the F&WF, but that is also not to be missed. We hit weather in the 70s and 80s last year, but overall October is a WONDERUL time to go.

Is Columbus day week really much more crowded than the rest of the month? I've been the week after columbus day week and it was empty. It seems most schools don't give kids a day off for columbus day anymore either...

I have been to WDW 12 times but always in October and November. Which was always a hassle with the schools and being from Nothern Pa. I am leaving Saturday for WDW.

What is to be expected of the length of the line's and what is the normal August temperature?

I have been the last 2 weeks or so in October a few times now and its a brilliant time to go! Crowds have always been low during my trips... and the weather seems fantastic to me anyway but I am from the UK!

I've been to WDW in October twice, and it's been pretty decent. The weather is cooler, of course, and that's no small thing. The lines are very manageable, unless there's a new attraction (the last time I went, TSMM had just opened up, and the lines were loooooong). The only thing to really look out for is rain - there are showers and squalls a-plenty in Orlando at that time of year. My advice - leave the rain coat at home, and bring a small portable umbrella. It's no fun tromping through the park in a wet dripping raincoat, whereas umbrellas are easy to stow away when they're not needed.

Once I went to WDW in April, and the weather was gorgeous!!! If I could swing it, I'd always go then.

Went once during first weekend of October and again mid October. Both times were wonderful weather. Warm to hot, but not TOO hot, and no major humidity. We never had probs with rain, but that's so variable anyways. The kids and men have always been able to swim at the pool during that time of year. You might want a light jacket to pack for the earliest morning arrivals at EMH and for late nights.

JAC: I hope you're planning on attending MNSSHP. It is incredible! We dressed up the first time (adults and kids), while only the kids dressed up the 2nd trip. It is pricey but so worth it. Overall smaller crowds at MNSSHP compared to EMH during that time of year (which can be way too crowded for the evening hours). Also, the fireworks shows during the party are really awesome!

Have a great trip!
