My family and I are going to Disney World from August 5th to 9th.
Do you guys think it would be a horrible weather during this time of the year?
Storm or no storm?

Being from the south, I think August is the souths hottest month. You may have a afternoon storm, but they usually do not last very long.

We've been down there twice during the first/second weeks of August. The best part about the weather is that you can wear shorts and a t-shirt all day (even early morning and late at night). Just make sure you've got rain ponchos for the late afternoon rain.

OK, thanks!
But are there any possibilities that some rides will be closed? Or maybe even the whole park will close?

Most of the attractions stay open in the rain. The big exception to this is Test Track. If you do get rained out of Test Track, keep your Fastpasses because they'll honor them days later.

If Test Track is closes, wouldn't that mean that Big Thunder Mountain should close also? Because they're both outside rollercoasters type rides...

I have gone the last 6 years in August...hot/humid then rain then hot/humid.

I don't recall them closin Thunder Mountain if if rains heavily, but I would get that they do. Lightening of course will close all outdoor rides.

Keep in mind that while it rains hard, it usually lasts no more than 30-45 minutes, and it cools you off if you get wet, although it does not cool off the outside temperature. When it rain,s just do an indoor ride, or eat. :D

we're conditioned that in august that it's going to rain hard between 3 and 4 PM. for the most part, every outdoor ride runs in the rain. lightning is more of a concern.

We always go in August. While it is hot, it rains most afternoons. Lightning closed AK while I was there once (no one allowed outside), and torrential rains forced all outdoor rides to close once while I was in the MK. But it usually is the coasters and testtrack that close during the normal rains of the afternoon.
FL leads the USA in kills by lightning strikes. Also while I was there once, a tornado touched down in SC, but that was states away.
Those are the only incidents I can remember for 11 years worth of August trips. ie. they're infrequent. Have a good time and don't worry. The afternoon rains are usually a welcome relief from the August heat.

Scattered showers that won't last long unless a random stupid tropical system approaches. Otherwise it will be disgustingly humid and hot, just drink a lot of water and ride the water rides.

And typically attractions don't close unless it is lightning.

Thanks that really helped.

Every trip, every summer, exactly the same.

Wake up and it's warm .....
Mid-day is HOT.....
Around 4pm it thunderstorms..
Rest of the night still warm but "refreshing" ....not disgusting.

It's great because no matter what unless it's a hurricane/tropical storm, the rain does not really stop you from doing a majority of WDW ....it's JUST as fun!

Thumbs up to Florida thunderstorms, they are powerful yet serve a purpose

^I share the exact same thoughts. Florida thunderstorms are one of the greatest things about going to Disney World. Note: The little planning chart above is completely accurate. Around 3:00, we go back to the hotel for a nap. Wake up, view apocalyptic weather from behind glass. :D 5 or 6:00, head back to the park, pleasant weather.
Now, I really do love extreme weather (hoping to be a meteorologist!), so this would actually be one reason I'd move to Florida.
