Ok.. this rumor might seem really rediculious, but it just won't die.

There is a rumor going around, about a Disney world, similiar to the one in Florida, going up in Arizona, around the Flagstaff area. Has anyone heard about this? I live in Tucson, and I visited Epcot and Magic Kingdom last summer, and had alot of fun.

Some are saying that this rumor is stupid, because of Arizona's close proximity of California. But Supposedly, theme park owners, are realizing that Arizona has pretty good, and predictable weather, and the parks can be opened year round. I would also say, standing out in the Arizona heat during the summer is alot better then the humid Florida heat.

If this rumor is obviously false, then I guess we still have boring Six Flags to look up to.

I'm no meteorologist, but I imagine the high temps (110º +) in the summer would make Arizona an unlikely candidate for a Disney Park.
Unless of course it's a Disney themed water park.

From another thread that popped up last week, it was determined that Disney is throwing around several ideas for weekend concepts...I wouldn't be surprised that these are sprinkled across the country...but I doubt they would build any park away from the two resort areas currently in the US...
But hey, anything is possible...right?

:D

One thing points to this being false I`m afraid - cost.
Yes- the cost of another WDW would be in the billions. I don't think it will happen for that reason - money. I guess it would be cool to have another one, but the cost of constantly upgrading that many parks worldwide would be almost impossible. I really dont see this happening, although it would be cool.

What is the source of all these rumours - Arizona, New York, Canada, Texas, Australia, Seoul, Mars, etc. It's only news if there isn't a rumour about a place.

Instead if investing billions for a new US park, invest those billions and upgrade, refubish, and add better attractions to the current parks. Everyone complains Disney does not give enough of a budget to Imagineering to create top notch attractions, yet everyone seems to love the idea of a new US based park...

Actually, from what I've heard from people that lived in Arizona, due to the lack of humidity, a temp of 110 is comparable to being in the 90s with high humidity, which is what Florida sees in the summer.

With struggling attendance at DCA, the high price of gas, and Arizona's proximity to Anaheim (I drove from the Grand Canyon to LA - it was a long day), I don't see this happening. Disney wants destination resorts. The only thing I could see is a Vacation Club, but not a park. The area to draw from would be limited.

You are very correct. I live in Florida and 90 degrees with 90% humidity in next to unbearable; however I’ve been in Dallas Texas when it was a 110 in near 0% humidity and it felt comfortable by comparison.

Yes. You will dehydrate much quicker.

Ohh no.. With this news Disney may now consider a park in the desert.. Dehydrate faster would lead to more water being sold at the parks.. For $2.00 a bottle, Disney can see its bottom line growing.
