Disney World/Disney Dream Honeymoon April 2012 Trip Report

It has been over a month since my Cinderella wedding and I can't believe the time went by so fast. I can barely find the time to do a trip report, but I don't want to wait much longer to start on it!

Who: My husband and I (that sounds weird still!)

What: Our Honeymoon

When: April 17-28th

Where: Universal/IoA, Disney Dream, and Disney World

My name is Nicole and my husbands name is Troy, and some of you might remember us from my previous and first trip report about a year and a half ago. During that trip we became engaged which lead us to this trip. You can read that report here http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=608141if you would like more background info

Here is a picture of us from our wedding

It's almost 5 a.m. here in Louisville so I better get back to bed. Third shift really sucks. I will post again before the weekend for sure!

Up next: We leave for Orlando!

Loving the TR. Interesting to read about all that goes into changing all of your details...and DH wonders why I still haven't done it after all these years

I think someone already answered the ? on the monster book from Book 3. Looks like Olivanders is still drawing crazy crowds. Love the character pics. :D

I'm a Harry Potter dork...it's from Book 3, Prisoner of Azkaban...the lovely Monster Book of Monsters

Also, to answer another question...Dudley Do-Right's Rip Saw Falls is actually a really excellent ride. In terms of "theme" Splash Mountain still wins hands down, but in terms of actual "this is an awesome log flume ride that may actually soak you fun" Rip Saw Falls wins in my book. The same can actually be said IMO when comparing Kali River Rapids with Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges. Popeye's is just a better (and longer...seriously have never found Kali worth the wait because it is so short) raft ride.

Thank you! I read that book but I can't remember anything about the monsters book. And I have wanted to ride Rip Saw Falls but I just don't want to get wet. It was cloudy when we was there so we wouldn't dry off to fast and I would probably be cold. I have also never rode Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges for the same reason. But I have been on Kali River Rapids and wasn't too memorable for me.

So Fun seeing you compare. I always wonder how they stack...

1. Umm that mummy guy, hello!!!! (This statement made my own hubs eyes roll then got a good chuckle.
2. Love the picture of Woody with the rings!!!
3. Having no idea about anything of Harrys. I have no idea what the picture of the thing with teeth is, but I am guessing its not friendly.

The guy on the stilts was creepy and I after I got done looking at him I turned right around into a creepy Egyptian lady giving me the evil eye. Must have been looking at her man lol. Woody was the only character we ran into that was creative and wanted to show off our rings. The others congratulated us and posed.

Changing my name on my social security card was pretty easy, along with the drivers license, its just remembering what else to change and what I need to bring along to do it. And it also takes a while to wait for it to take effect (except for the license). I'm in the process of taking care of my bank info now. Yeah Olivanders was crazy, crazy packed. I found one spot by the wands and was planted.

After the show I spotted the Lorax! I was happy to see him because he never showed yesterday.

We headed over to Disaster! afterwards and we actually had to wait in a line for this one, but Troy was looking forward to this ride. While we was in the first room, Troy was picked to be one of the actors in the movie! I was able to record two parts of the show: when he was acting out his part and the finish project. In the movie trailer you can actually see both of us on the subway. I uploaded the movies to my YouTube account and you can see them here:

(Troy is in the orange)

(We're at 20 sec. and Troy is at 1:13. Our screen didn't have good quality)

It was time for lunch and Mel's was calling our names. We both had cheeseburgers and we shared the loaded fries. Next up after lunch we saw a bunch of characters out on the street. Every time we turned around, we saw someone else!

This guy playing gy had a horrible time talking like him. Plus, his eyes are closed in this picture! Usually it's Troy with his eyes closed!

Troy didn't want his picture with Marilyn, boo.

It was weird not seeing Jaws there but they did still have this!
IMG_1783.jpg

Do we know what will take it's place yet or am I just way behind?

The Horror Make-Up show was about to start so we walked in and found us a seat. I have never seen this show and we both liked it. I love scary movies and all the creative stuff that goes into making it! The two performers did a great job and I really got scared at the end of the show when their "robotic" friend came to life!
IMG_1798.jpg

The Simpsons Ride was next and this was a first for both of us also. There was a father and his little girl sitting next to us and the little girl was really scared. She thought it was real and I felt so bad for her. I rode Back to the Future in the 90's so it has been a long time for me to remember anything about it to compare it to the Simpsons, but it was interesting enough.

Men In Black was next and we had a lot of fun. I love being able to make your vehicle spin and I love Will Smith so this ride is always a plus for me. When we exited the ride, raindrops began to drop. We made it to Beverly Hills just before it started to pour. The last thing we wanted to do was Terminator but the show wouldn't start for another hour so we looked around the I Love Lucy tribute and ate some ice cream.

Terminator was fun and man I felt like I stepped back in time. The video they showed and decor definitely made me feel like I had time traveled. I have not seen any of Arnold's movies but I still like this attraction.

We was finished with the park around 5 and left for our hotel again. I took another nap and then we went to dinner at our favorite restaurant, Chilis! And when we got there it was happy hour! Two pluses! Troy wanted to go to City walk again so we went there after we ate. We went to the karaoke bar where they have a live band (can't remember the name) play when you sing. Everyone was really good, I was surprised. We stayed for about 2 hours and left for our hotel.

Tomorrow we leave for Cape Canaveral!

Congrats on your wedding! My sister just got married last week so I'm still in "wedding mode"

Thanks for the great perspective on Uni, btw. I went to IoA during my trip last August, but I haven't been to "regular" Universal since 2002. I definitely need to check it out soon (although I miss Alfred Hitchcock and Murder She Wrote, lol).

Ironically, we went on both those rides when it was raining...we were already wet so we figured why not? And yeah, I love Disney more than anything in the world when it comes to theme parks, but Universal simply has better water rides. Barges was very very fun and it actually did have a great theme, same as Rip Saw, Disney just does theme a bit better. I hope you try them both sometime!

Also! To answer another question...Universal has not yet confirmed what is going to be in Jaws area but it is a really terribly kept secret that it will be a new Harry Potter area. I believe they are going to have a train (at least that is the rumor) connecting the two areas. I love Jaws and will miss it but I'm excited for another HP area

Oh yeah, I remember hearing something about the HP expansion. It sounds awesome!

Check out time at the hotel was 11 and we was out of there 15 minutes before that. There was an IHOP right across the street from the hotel so we had breakfast there. After some pancakes and waffles, we drove to Cape Canaveral. We was less then 10 minutes away when I realized I left my favorite, most sacred Goofy back at the hotel. I panicked! We pulled over and searched the car just in case, in hope of a miracle, that Goofy would be there somewhere. Of course he was not and I made a quick phone call to the Quality Inn. They said they would check and call me back. Ugh the feeling I had the rest of the day was complete worry until I heard back from them. After two more phone calls from me they finally was able to say he was safe and sound and that I could pick him up on Thursday when we got back from our cruise.

The reason this Goofy is so dear to me is because of two things: 1) My dad (who passed away a few years ago) bought me this stuffed, little Goofy in 1992 on our first trip to Disney World. 2) It was the first Goofy to start off my collection. Here is what he looks like:

We checked into the Raddison at the Port around 1:00, dropped our luggage off, and left for the Cocoa Beach Pier.

IMG_1806.jpg

Troy fished for almost 4 hours and didn't catch a thing until we was about to leave. He ended up catching a sting ray! There was a guy on the pier who had experience with dealing with sting rays and he got it off the hook for us.

IMG_1810.jpg

We had on t-shirts that said "I love my crazy husband" and "I love my crazy wife" and we got a lot of compliments from them. We even had a lady stop and take a picture with us. It was really cool and now we get compliments all the time when we wear them out.

It was really windy out, if you can't already tell.

It was time for dinner after we left the pier so we ate at the italin restaurant next to our hotel. I think it was called Kelsies? We relaxed the rest of the night and got dessert at McDonalds. The next morning we would be getting on the Dream!!!

Great TR!! Congrats on your wedding, your pictures are beautiful!
DDRRSF is actually a great ride, I highly reccomend it; just be prepared to get wet! I sat in the front seat on it and I was soaking wet and I joked around with the guys afterwards and said, "Hey, I wasn't told I was going to get wet!" Lets just say they didn't find it funny.:(
