I hope this thread doesn't degrade into a Venezuela Tour Group thread, but I find this to be interesting since we've all experienced them in person. I'm curious to see if Disney holds any persuasive actions that might allow them to be considered an exception to these new guidelines. These groups spend a good bit of money in the parks, so Disney has to be closely watching these events.

I'm not aware of enormous numbers of Venezuelan tour groups. Brazilian and Argentine, yes, but not so much Venezuelan. Even the article cites that this affects upper and SOME middle class. Not making light of the issue for Venezuela, but I don't see this having a major impact on WDW.

Interesting. I never considered travel to a foreign country a right, but it reads like that's how Venezuelians feel about the US.

I've seen a few Venezuelan groups, and I only know because I'll usually ask their group leaders what their country of origin is. Maybe they aren't as big as Brazilian groups go, but I'm curious why the article makes it seem like there's going to be a noticeable impact on Disney. I guess it could be to stir up angry Venezuelans into protesting this move by their government.

Interesting, I stand corrected about the tour groups. Much like you, I am wondering what exactly the motive is behind that article, although there is some impact for lost revenue at WDW, it just doesn't seem like it would be significant. I wonder if Time is looking to stir up support in this country for Maduro. They did dearly love Chavez.

When we were on the Disney Dream in September, the most represented group behind the USA were passengers from Venezuela. We saw them all over the place at WDW before and after the cruise as well. Maybe not as prominent as Brazilian tour groups, but they are there!
