I gotta be honest. I'm not really sure I want Ant-Man to visit me during dinner. Actually, I'm pretty sure that I don't want Ant-Man to visit me during dinner. I guess I'm gonna try it, because it's the newest ship. But this doesn't appeal to me at all, personally. (And PS -- I love the Marvel movies. Just doesn't seem like the right venue to me.)
Marvel ain’t my game and I don’t care for the IP being wedged into the ship. Im in the minority on this, though, so I guess we will make this our Palo night(s).

I don't need to be bugged while having dinner, but I am sure the characters will spend most of their time at tables w/ kids.

I am with you. The Arendelle thing would be a miss for me, too. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy DCL, but I'm not feeling this ship. It feels more geared towards families with young children. I'm looking forward to hearing about people's experiences, until then, I'm booked on the Dream out of Miami Sept. '22.

I hope nobody takes this post as a personal affront. I'm just not vibing with what I am seeing.

I totally understand why people don't want to be saturated with IP, and I agree that "the Disney touch" doesn't have to mean IP.

But from my family's perspective, the IP is a primary draw. Any number of lines have ships that are just as nice, they go to the same islands, their staff is just as good, AND they are considerably cheaper. (Although I do think they generally have a worse crew-to-guest ratio.)

It's just my husband and me who cruise, but I could see how someone with kids who are into Marvel/Disney would be overjoyed with the Wish. I am not saying I'll never cruise on it, but I want to see TRs, YouTube videos, write-ups about the Wish. As it stands, the only thing that really bothers me are the two character restaurants. Those are a hard sell for my husband. :hilarious:

Marceline Market

Disney also announced new casual dining spots that will be available on the ship, starting with Marceline Market.

Named for Walt Disney’s early childhood hometown in Missouri, Marceline Market will be a food hall with ever-changing dishes inspired by marketplaces around the world. Passengers will be able to dine inside or outside with views of the ocean.

Marceline Market will feature 10 different food stalls and a central bar. Walking into the dining hall will feel like you’ve been transported to a bustling market from the Disney universe, with each stall manned by your favorite Disney characters from films such as “Tangled,” “Ratatouille,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Zootopia” and more.

Menu-wise, there will be something for the whole family at Marceline Market — from American classics to international eats, comfort foods, vegetarian and plant-based fare, baked goods and (of course) desserts.

Breakfast and lunch will be served as a walk-around dining experience, and dinner will feature table service with entrées cooked to order.

Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods

The third addition to the dining lineup on the Disney Wish is Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods.

On the upper decks, Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods will serve as a place to grab quick eats while enjoying time on the boat. Fan-favorites such as Disney Cruise Line’s signature soft-serve ice cream will be available, along with five Disney-themed stalls to choose from: Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue, Donald’s Cantina, Daisy’s Pizza Pies, Goofy’s Grill and Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream.

If you’re a fan of the classic “Mickey Mouse” animated shorts, you’ll likely recognize the seaside boardwalk design at Mickey and Friends. Families will enjoy the shaded seating areas where you can enjoy your meal.

I can definitely understand why some people will be turned off by character restaurants as part of the normal rotation. Part of me is surprised that Disney doesn't go the route where the basic restaurants are free and character dining, like Palo, is an upcharge.

Ummm. Gee I just said I like characters, but this feels like a lot. And like a circulation nightmare. Surely they don't mean that the characters are serving food, right?

Not literally. I’m trying to imagine Goofy dishing out omelets lol

Every other omelet falls to the floor with a “GAWRSH!”
Right! I'm wondering if this means there will be separate areas where characters will have M&G, like Tigger at 1900 Park Fare, or if there will just be characters in some sort of viewing area. (or maybe it'll just be random characters slapped on the wall in vinyl - who knows)

I do not expect characters played by humans. Either static figures or something akin to Oga’s involvement in Oga’s Canteen. “Pluto is out back making these hot dogs!”

Couldn't agree more. I much preferred the restrained theming of Carioca's/Parrot Cay to the over the top Tangled/Tiana restaurants. It was cute and fun when the Tangled stage show first premiered and they would "take over" O'Gills as the Ugly Duckling for the evening, but converting the restaurant was too much for me--the show belongs in the theater, IMO.

Speaking of the shows, the original concepts of the Golden Mickeys, Disney Dreams, Believe, Villains Tonight were preferable to seeing a recreation onstage of a movie I have already seen several times and could watch at home on DVD at any time. IMO. If they ever take away The Golden Mickeys, I'm done with them. :)

Amen, my friend. I'm disappointed to see the dining on the Wish, and that they've introduced character theming into Palo. It doesn't look quite as subtle as the Remy theming in that restaurant.

When did they announce character dining in Palo?
It's not character dining, it's character theming in the decor. Beauty and the Beast characters are featured in the adult-only restaurants -- Cogsworth in Palo and Lumiere in the other one.
