Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

The lights, although a very short section of the race, have been a highlight each year. It's good to see them back for this year

Any indication of whether they will have someone from MarathonPhoto in that section this year? I was shocked last year when I was running through there and discovered that they didn't have any official photographers out. It seemed like the perfect spot for them!

I doubt it. When Photopass takes pictures of guests there during normal hours, they do a long exposure to get the lights + the guest. I can't see anyone wanting to hang out for the 20-30 seconds to take a picture.

Is Osceola more bearable in this race since it's at the start and we get it done early?

Yeah, I totally think so. And it's nice because Animal Kingdom breaks it up. The only "annoying" part of the Race is the out and back of Osceola.

But it is early on, has AK in the middle, and just remember it gets awesomly fun as you get back to MGM.

I agree with @surfsupdon - it's not that bad.

The Osceola Pkwy portion in the beginning is a little long, but at least then there's still the excitement of having just started the race. The stretch after leaving AK and heading to the Studios is tougher, in my opinion, just because it's a little longer. Nothing will ever be as bad as the OP portion on the old marathon course though.

I still prefer this course to the WDW/Princess Half courses - 3 parks! And I really love seeing the parks lit up at night. AK especially since it's tougher to see that lately...love all the time spent in the Studios. The Epcot portion was my least favorite park area just because it was so short, but there were spectators there, so that was cool.

Yeah, I don't really mind Osceola so much on this one because running through AK is so much fun. But I would also love to have more Epcot time through the countries. But there is a party already going on so that would be tough.

I don't mind Osceola Parkway. It's nice and wide, so there's plenty of room to run your own race (I didn't even mind it in the old marathon course, since it was a shorter "boring" distance than all the way to WWOS). It's also kind of fun to see the runners on the other side of the road when you're near DAK. The only drawback is that the course is relatively hilly by Florida standards. For most of the country it's not too bad, but there are several overpasses, ramps, and unexpected hills along the way

The one thing that really screwed with my mind was how different the course through the Studios is from the marathon course. I was tired so I was expecting it to be identical, but it was very different despite passing several of the same places. It was a fun route, but just not what I was mentally prepared for at all!

The original ToT course winded through MGM back and forth, zigging and zagging. I think it went down every single thoroughfare and pathway possible. ToT, and Wine and Dine, now follow similar paths. Wine and Dine spends a good amount of time in the park. I do wish that we spent more time in Epcot.

W&D is the far superior course to the WDW & Princess Half courses.

Is there a web site where you can draw your own course along roads and it will measure the distance as you go? It might be fun to see what courses people come up with.

runDisney has been using a website for easy updating of proof of time recently. Here is the possible link for Wine & Dine.

Ooh...great find. I searched myself and my information/time that I sent to them is in there. I have a couple of more recent times so I'll definitely try to re-submit when this "officially" goes live.

Also like that you have to put in a link to the results, and if they don't find you you're automatically in the last corral. They're cracking down!

mapmyrun.com also has a feature to do routing. Our local running club uses it to set the Saturday runs. I also have used it during Dopey/Goofy training to map longer runs to loop back for nutrition
