Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon

Happy Halloween everyone! To celebrate today, I completed the 2021 Virtual Wine & Dine 10K. It worked out better with my training this way then to wait the additional week. Anyways, here are the results from today’s race.

Time: 01:15:40
Distance: 6.23
Avg Pace: 12:09

I didn’t PR, that honor still goes to this year‘s Virtual Walt Disney World 10K. Where I completed that race in 01:14:38 (so close) this represents my on foot PR. My PR on the treadmill happened during this year’s Star Wars Rival Run 10K where I completed that race in 01:11:30. Not bad results at all but also not a PR.

Race time has been submitted, really cool finisher certificate maybe it’s just because I am a fan of Nightmare Before Christmas. Only three other people submitted their results when I checked.

If I had to guess we’ll be the “s#” equivalent to C and D (or possibly both C depending on how big it is). 2019 had about 3x as many in F as in C, D, E, and G largely due to F being the lowest time you could select without Proof of Time. Now that proof is only for under 2:00:00, I suspect C is going to be huge.

I selected 2:00-2:15 because I had a 2:09 half this time last year, I’m curious, did you select that one or the 2:15-2:30?

there are 4 start groups that are labeled 1-4 vs corrals that were labeled A-G. My ASSUMPTION would be s1 is start group 1

I hate to bring this up but masks are required on buses. How is this going to work? We bring a cheap-o on the bus to the race and throw it away at start for the volunteers to clean up? Then what about getting back on the bus after finish? Are we expected to carry one while running or will they be provided at the buses? I don't see anything in the guide.

Several runners have commented that their previously digitally signed waivers now say they opted out. Double check your registrations. runDisney will not have a designated area at the Expo to print out waivers.

I plan on printing out my waivers and Expo Pass and bringing with me.

My guess is that they expect people to carry it with them (for races, I’ve been just sticking it in my run belt or pocket if I’m wearing shorts with them). I think that, in reality, many people will toss them at the start line and we’ll have about 20% that actually put them on after the finish line whether they kept them or not. That’s what it’s seemed to be in Charleston and Atlanta for the larger races I’ve done recently.

Edit- although for the return buses, they’re going to have to have a stash available you would think.

I got a little mask holder I can clip to my running belt. I would hope runners would toss their used mask in a trash receptacle.

Do we think runner tracking txts will return?? Emails and Twitter are so outdated. I do not like that change.
