Disney While Pregnant??

So I am planning a trip to Disney which will occur approx when I am 7 months pregnant. Is this a completely crazy idea or should I just wait and attempt the craziness of going with an infant??

I first thought it was totally doable but now I'm worried that it's not. I will be traveling with my husband an my daughter. It is both their first time there and I haven't been in 10+ years so we don't have any set expectations on what to see or do.

Also, my daughter is 2.5 so we are planning on returned to our resort every day around lunch time for napping, etc. also, we are staying for 5 nights with the intention of not doing park all day every day. We plan on doing some full days or some half days of just resort pool time, shopping, etc.

My mind set is that I should be able to handle what a 2 year old can. Cause obviously she naps, needs a full nights rest, eats 3 melas, can't get too hot, etc. But is this just wishful thinking?!?! I haven't been to Disney in forever so I not sure I am under estimating everything.

Also we are planning for early-mid Sept. Not sure how hot and humid it is then.

Any opinions, tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Mid September. I don't know Orlando weather so u would assume it would still be pretty warm but not sure if it has begun to cool down at all yet.

It's still really hot in September usually... I was there maybe 2nd week of September. We had to leave AK at noon because it was 96. It can be brutal when you are pregnant... Drink lots and lots of water.

My DW has been twice while pregnant. 1st time she was about 7 months in December and just us, the 2nd time she was about 4 months in February with our 6yr DD. Both times weren't a problem for her.

She had to skip a lot of the rides obviously but we just took it slow, took breaks, kept hydrated (and knew were the nearest bathroom was for frequent potty breaks) and we had a great time.

Thanks for the opinions. I tried googling info an there is a lot of "Disney is great when you are pregnant" and "never ever do it". Just wanted some real opinions.

I understand I need breaks and to stay hydrated but so will my 2 year old. And she also can't go on the big rides which I wouldn't be able to do anyway. So in my mind I kind of look at me and the 2 year old on the same page ... Not sure sure if that was just wishful thinking.

I personally would wait. Haven't gone pregnant but, have gone with an infant & it was one of our best trips ever. On our trip last month my older DD went with us & she was 20 weeks. She also brought our DGS2 with her. She said that while she had a good time she would never do Disney pregnant again! She said that she was EXHAUSTED!!! We even had 2 Waterpark days built in so we weren't going full park commando.

My daughter was 14 weeks pregnant when she and my son in law invited us to go to Disney with them and our the 21 month old granddaughter last November. The weather was pleasant and about 75-80 with no humidity. She was quite comfortable even carrying her daughter in a sling at times. Now: I have been to Disney in September and the weather is unbelievably hot hot hot and humid humid humid...oh....did I say HUMID!...... even more so than in what we in New England consider the summer months of July and August. There were a few rain showers, but just enough to make the air even more steamy. I would reconsider the month of September if I were you. If you cannot, be sure to hydrate....drink even if you do not feel thirsty. Good luck and have a Magical Trip! :cat:

This^^^. The most miserably humid trips we have taken have been in September.

Us too. We've been 5-6 times in Sept, and though the exact temps varied some, it was always Hot with High humidity. We live in NC and normally have hot humid summer weather, but it has always been a little worse at WDW. I don't know about that much walking at 7 mos pregnant, but I found the miles & miles of walking in hot humid weather to be really draining on each of our Sept trips. Also, your 2yo can ride in a stroller some, but unfortunately adults can't do that. I'm glad you plan to take rest/nap breaks and drink lots of water, those are, as everyone has said, very important.
I hope you have a wonderful time!!

I went at 7 months with my first child so it was just hubby and me. And we went beginning of December so the weather was nice and in the 60s. The pace was very very slow and I had to sit down a lot. We had been several times by then and so we did not feel like we needed to do everything. Having your child with you will make it harder to take it slower. I think you will find that your hubby will have to take the child while you rest. Your plan for going back to the resort sounds like a good idea but that is a lot more walking then staying at the park. But with the heat it might be better to get somewhere air conditioned. And as others have said Sept is super hot and humid. I think in you case(the time of year and having a small child) I would put it off a year or two. If you go ask for a ground floor room. We had a 2nd floor and my hubby had to pull me up the stairs at the end of the night. LOL Being that far pregnant is more exhausting then you would think.

I went when I was 7 months pregnant and didn't have any problems. (we went during the month of May) It really can depend on how you are holding up then. If you have problem-free pregnancies, you should be good.

My wife and I went mid-Oct of 2013 when she was 6.5 mos pregnant with twins, so she was quite...large (can't think of a better word)... at the time. She did quite a bit of research about which rides she could do and which she couldn't /shouldn't; she still could do a lot, but obviously not the wilder / bumpier rides. She would just wait in the shade when I did those.

As for heat, it wasn't a big deal as I recall. I don't tolerate heat well at all, while she tends to get cold easily. Our normal park schedule is to get in, get on as many rides as we want, and be out by 11am to take a siesta at the hotel during the hottest part of the day, so we didn't have to deviate from that at all.

The biggest concern was spending a lot of time walking / being on her feet. She was also concerned that she would slow me down and "ruin" the trip. To combat this, we rented a wheelchair, which worked quite well. I would HIGHLY suggest renting either a scooter or wheelchair; you don't have to use it, but it's there if you need it. We actually rented a manual wheelchair from a local medical supplier, and took it down there with us so we'd have it at all times; cost like $30 for the week. With me pushing the wheelchair and her riding, our energy levels matched quite well (and I learned there's a lot more uphills in Disney than I thought there were). One advantage we found to the manual wheelchair was that she would occasionally want to walk a little to stretch her legs, so she could push the wheelchair and lean on it a little bit.

My main point is that, while every pregnancy can be different, doing Disney at 7 mos pregnant is doable and can be as comfortable as you normally would be at 7mos pregnant. I'll run this by my wife and see if she has anything else to add.

Our DiL went at 3.5 mos. pregnant, the week following Labor Day with a 1 year old in tow. We would get to the parks at rope drop and by 11 am...she was done for the day...she couldn't take the heat and humidity. She was born and raised in Georgia. The heat and humidity are brutal, especially if you are not from the southeast and you're pregnant.

If you could postpone your trip until early 2016, and maybe let the grandparents watch the infant, the whole family would enjoy the trip more.

I don't know how the OP would be able to have her hubby push her in a wheelchair and take care of a 2 year old. I don't think that is a possibility for them. Going pregnant without kids is much different then going with a toddler. Even a scooter would be a pain, I would think.

My wife are going through something similar now. We've done 5 trips the last 2.5yrs. None with kids bc we don't have any. We are currently trying to pregnant. We have a trip planned regardkess in dec. 2016. Hopefully we have a baby by then. I'm wanting to book just a 4-5 day trip late April early May in 2016, and she is saying heck no, bc she hoping she's pregnant then or the baby will be a new born. Needless to say, it looks like we will not be going bc if this.

Yeah I'm with your wife on this one. If it was a "now or never" situation it might be different, but if you're going back six months later anyways, it might be better to wait until the baby is a little more robust.
