Disney vs. Universal

Sooo.. Is Universal's Express Pass system worth the price in say.. July?

I would say, Yes. We visited over the 4th of July weekend and I was so glad I added the Express Pass. The line for Express Pass for some of the rides -Terminators especially - was a 20 minute wait. Not all rides have Express Pass, like Gringotts and HP Forbidden Journey. You can purchase either the limited Express Pass - use just once per ride - or the unlimited version.

In WDW, you can go on a lot of Non-Water rides and not get sprayed with water.

In Universal, you get sprayed with water every ride

On most simulator-type rides where water is shot at you, it dries off in like, 10 seconds. The only rides that remotely drench you at UOR are Dudley Do-Right, Popeye, and Jurassic Park.

Fastpass is much better. It's free, you can use it on the rides that actually need it, and disney can control the size of the fatspass lines.

Only a handful of rides spray you with liquid
Every 4-D ride sprays you. That's the majorty of the rides.

(Forbidden Journey, Men in Black, Mummy, and E.T. aren't 4-d though. That's all I can remember that isn't an outdoors rollar coaster I woudn't go on)

40 minutes would be the wait time of the most popular ride of the day at Universal during this time of year.

At Magic Kingdom, everything is at least 40 minutes.

That may take a book to figure that out.........LOL.

I won't go to WDW or Universal in July period.

I actually went to Magic Kingdom this past july during a NYFA summer camp. We only had 4 hours in the park.. And it worked out great! Our FP+ was acting up.. So luckily my little group was with me. We did..

Buzz Lightyear Spaceranger Spin
TTA Peoplemover
Laugh Floor Comedy Club
Stitch's Great Escape
Carousel of Progress
The Haunted Mansion
Mickey's Philharmagic
Ariel's Undersea Adventure
Big Thunder Mountain

I'd say we did pretty well for just a few hours in the afternoon. On top of that, later that evening.. We went to Animal Kingdom. The park was EMPTY! Middle of July! Like really! We rode Mount Everest about 3 times! And had our own bus for Kilimanjaro. It was great.

Soo... I've found out that the summer isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be, unless the park is at full capacity. If you know what you're doing and have a plan then it's all good.

I personally enjoy a fresh discussion. Yes, they can get heated by fanboi's from both camps but there is new information that can be added by recent visitors from both camps that would not otherwise get posted in the "necrothreads". For those of us incessantly on these forums (guilty as charged) I guess they can get tedious but to that I would say....don't go for the clickbait and just leave the thread alone if you have seen it all before.

A few years ago, yes. Now? It's getting closer and closer to =.

This is one of those ratings that varies based on perception. My teen daughter loves Uni, my preteen son, WDW. The ideal way to enjoy a trip to Orlando fully is to do both on a 7+ day trip. Airfare is a big factor of consideration. Otherwise I would say just take two short trips and see each part separately.

I personally dislike the WDW inner-city style bus system for a myriad of reasons. Uni has eliminated the need for a bus system. So, while WDW and Uni are close to tied in my book, I am slightly less stressed with a Uni vacation.
