I just recieved an email asking if I would like to upgrade my disney visa
  • upgrade and earn 2% in Disney Dream Reward Dollars on card purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and most Disney locations.
  • Earn 1% in Disney Dream Reward Dollars on all other card purchases.
...and now more ways to redeem
  • Continue to redeem toward most everything Disney.
  • Redeem toward airline travel on any airline to any destination, anytime.to footnote 2

I see there is a 49.00 charge

What are the perks of this card vs. the older one where you get 1 point per every 100.00

anyone have the premium card?

We upgraded because of the 2% on the grocery, gas and restaurants since that's all we use ours for. We also pay it down each week. I think both cards get you discounts on disney tours.

We did the math, and how it turned out for us, is that it was beneficial to upgrade to the 'premium' card.

We opted for the Premium card last year, and at the time they were offering a $200 Disney Gift Card for signing up. Might want to check for similar promotions before making the decision, or ask outright if there is any immediate reward other than the percentage increase.

I got the premium card initially simply because I got much higher gift card for signing up and double the rewards for an upcoming trip. I've only had it a couple of mos, just got it to get the free dining offer. The rewards really are not that great, especially factoring in the fee. I'm going to evaluate it after our decemeber trip. Based on our spend it might be worth it to keep the premium card, but if not I will try to get the regular card.

Since I have my card I probably charge 3,000 on it per year It wasn't worth it for us to upgrade as said earlier if you use it ALOT I would upgrade for sure!

I use the premium card and I put almost everything on the card and pay it off in full each month. I use it for all groceries, gas, going out to eat, etc. The way I see it is we buy groceries no matter what. We put gas in the vehicles no matter what. So if I have the money to pay those as I go per month, then I have the money to put them on the credit card and pay it in full each month. My monthly credit card bill is anywhere from $1500 to $1800 a month, so I get around $35 a month in rewards points. I cashed in over $1500 in points last March for our April 2013 WDW trip and since then, I have accumulated another $500 some odd points. So by the time we go again next year, I expect to have around $1000 to cash in.

Initially, I had the regular card, but I upgraded a couple years ago after doing the math and figuring that the premiere card would be worth it. My wife and I both work and we both drive separate mini-vans. Each van gets filled up around once a week at, say, $60 a fillup as a low estimate on average. So take $60 a week X two vans X 4 weeks in a month X 12 months and you get roughly $5,760 in gas expenses per year. One percent of that would be $57. The annual fee for the premier card is $49, so the annual fee offsets most of the extra points from our gas fillups. After that, we still have the remaining extra points from gas purchases, plus all of our groceries, plus any restaraunts we eat at, plus all of the money we spend on our WDW trips. So when I buy our tickets for 4 people for our next WDW trip, it should come up to around $1300. Two percent of that would be about $26. So I have found that the extra $49 that I pay for the annual fee is worth it for the extra points that I get each year on the card.

The best way to use it, as others have said, is to use your card for everything and pay it off in full every month. When I upgraded my card to the premium card, they gave me $50 in points to offset the annual fee so I would call to see if they are offering any of those promotions.

This is my problem, I can't pay it if off each time, I honestly think the best thing for me is to cut all my cards up right now, so I think I may pass on the prem. card. thank you and thank you all for your help and advice

I actually found a better deal. The Capital One Venture card gives 2% on EVERYTHING, and I can use the rewards for Disney hotels. I keep the basic Disney Visa for the discounts if needed, but I receive the same or better discounts from being an Annual Passholder. One advantage we've never taken advantage of, mostly because we're AP, is the 0% interest on booking a package.

Well I upgraded and see my points grow exponentially as I use it for about everything....make much more than the 49$ charge and I have used the 6 mo no interest feature when needing tax $$$ to help pay bill. Plus I really like Cinderellas Castle on my card.....:D. People, usually women, at stores comment on it and relay their Disney stories....which is fun to me. :) And I do pay it off in full every month unless I make a mistake....so yes if you leave a balance? Probably not worth the trade off....gotta do the math.

We just opened one, our 1st card in years (don't tell Dave Ramsey). My husbands company stopped doing corporate credit cards for travel so we put all of the reimbursed travel expenses for that trip on the card. We also used it for tution for our kids schools and our WDW trip. The business travel was reimbursed immediately and paid off, the money for vacation aand school was already saved and we transferred funds to cover the charges immediately. We put the various camps the kids were in this summer and paid off immediatly as weel. We are testing out charging groceries and gas this month, we have 5 children and a Suburban so thoose add up pretty quickly.
Off to chec our points now:)
