Has anybody been on a Disney VIP Tour? I heard that you get the "low-down" on all things Disney! Even go behind the scenes to get right on the rides! At $125 an hour and a 6 hour minimum for this tour, I'm extrememly excited to see what experiences people have had on these tours, if anybody has. :)

From what I understand, the VIP tour guide idea was originally designed for the rich and famous when visiting the parks, so that they could enjoy the attractions without being mobbed by fans, etc.

Hence the back door entrances to the attractions.

The VIP tours take you to what you want to see (to a degree ), they are customizable to the individual.

WDW realized that they had to offer this service to everyone (possible civil litigation?)

Hi, Escarabaja!

The Department of Special Activies at Disney offers tour guides to guests at the cost of $125/hour. The cast members used are specially (and intensively) trained Guest Relations cast members who are experts on the geography and strategies of the parks. The tour guide is basically at your service to do just about anything while you have him/her. They will drive you to and fro, pick you up and drop you off, and basically take you to any location on Disney property accessible to regular guests.
What they do NOT do is give you "back door entrances" like a post above stated. They sometimes, if you have a good guide, will be collecting Fastpasses for you prior to your arrival at a certain park, but there is absolutely no authority to get you on a ride any quicker than anyone else.
With that said, VIP Tour Guides for "high profile" guests do use exclusively backstage routes for their parties because of the fact the guest could not possibly enjoy themselves on stage. You may think this is cool, but think about it - a good part of Disney is the visuals and the "show" that is put on, and celebrities have to sacrifice all that just because of who they are.

These tours are fantastic and the tour guides assigned to you go through a rigorous interview and selection process - it is very difficult to get in to. You will be touring with the same guides given to the celebrities - so you know these are Disney's best-of-the-best. You can go to http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/tourDetail?id=AKVIPServicesTourPage for call Disney VIP Tour Services at (407)-560-4033.

If you can't afford the $125 but still want to experience this, to an extent, consider the Keys to the Kingdom, Undiscovered Future Wourld, or Around the World on a Segway tours offered in the parks. These tours offer the personalized attention for at least a brief period of time.

Hopefully this helps you a bit.

OK, thanks for the clarification.

But how do they get around offering "high profile" guests a service that Joe Schmo is not eligible to recieve ?
(I understand the need, just not the legality!)

Who decides who is "high profile" and who is "medium profile" or even just " no profile" ?

Several years ago we were in the same theater at Mickey's Starland as Steven Spielberg and his family. There were "suits" all over the place, which I assumed were guides and/or security people. As exciting as it was to see him, I really felt kind of bad for the whole group because I knew what they were missing by not experiencing the whole park experience.

Had to? Ha, thats pretty funny. $125/hr for a guide thats paid a max of what, $15? So $110 profit an hour to guide someone around? I'm sure they are crying over being forced to do something so tragic.

I would venture to say that if you are paying for, say, security to go with you as well as the guide, you are high profile.
