My husband and I have recently been tossing around the idea of joining the disney vacation club. We don't know anyone who is a member and were looking for some opinions on what others think about it. Thanks in advance for your input!

There are a lot of threads about this. Just do a quick search and you will see many opinions. My wife and I like it but it is only worth it if you normally stay in the deluxe hotels or if you would like to. Maintenance fees can be high but when compared to what you might pay for a two bedroom villa for a week it is not that bad.

We've been a member for a year now and have already travelled to our "home" last October and we are going again October coming.

Whether it's suitable for you or not depends on what type of holidays you normally take.

We're from England. When we first visited WDW (Allstar Music) in 2001 the £ was worth $1.40 and when we looked then it was far too expensive. We stayed in I-Drive in 2003 and didn't even consider it. In 2006 we stayed at POFR and again didn't consider it. However, in October 2006 I took a separation package from my company and had a very nice amount of money "willing" to be spent. Within 3 months I had another job and with the £ being worth $1.90 it was actually cheaper to buy in March 2007 than it was in March 2001 - even though the cost per point had risen from $73 to $93.

If I hadn't had the money I would not have bought (buying through finance would have made it too expensive).

However, now we've got it we're very, very happy and we are looking at a possible points add on when "Kingdom Villas" become available.

Becoming a DVC member is one of the best decisions we ever made. I also stayed at All Star Music twice, all of the moderate price resorts and then when we were at CB there was a flyer on the table about DVC. I came home and called and picked my representative's brain (he was very patient). We never wanted to have a time share with all the restricitions as far as when you can go, how you have to swap with someone else, etc. With DVC you have the flexibility of vacationing when you want to and you are staying at their beautiful deluxe resorts. You also get extra perks such as discounts at resturants, torurs and shopping and $100 off your annual pass. Although you have to pay maintenance fees if you figure out what it would cost you just to book a vacation room, it is well worth it. You have flexibility of not having to go to Disney every year if you so choose and picking another state or country or even their cruise to vacation using your DVC. We are able to go to WDW twice a year (9-10 days in October and 6-7 days in the spring). Without DVC we could not do this. I guess all we can say in a nutshell is WE LOVE IT! If you can swing it go for it. If you do, welcome home!:)
