We just arrived home from our trip to Walt Disney World FL. We have been coming to WDW for a few years now - always from mid to late September. We love the less crowded, not-so hot weather AND the free dining plan isn’t so bad either.
LOL, the best kept secret no longer exists. I have never seen the parks more crowded. Wow… I’m thinking everyone is taking advantage of the free dining plan and if you have children, they must be missing school. The wait for buses was longer than usual – especially when parks close. But Disney does the best with a crazy task of chauffeuring 1000’s. The heat…WOW again. It was brutally hot and very humid…but it only rained off and on during one day and then for about an hour at the start of the Halloween event.
I must commend all of the parade and outside performers and dancers. While I was melting they were selling every-last-minute of their performances. Never an exhausted look or marked step – They perform full out every time. Bravo! (Ps. Does everyone know about the “Welcome Show” they do every morning before the Magic Kingdom opens? Last year was the first time we caught it. It is delightfully, quintessentially, Disney! Don’t miss it.)
We visited 5 restaurants for dinner. All our servers were extremely friendly and kept the cold drinks coming. Kouzzina – very yummy, The Grand Floridian Café – very yummy, Boma – VERY yummy, Nine Dragons – very good, (didn’t love the red bean rice pudding though…), Tutto Italia – very good.
The parks are as beautiful and magical as ever. In the Hollywood Studios, in the animation building, there are 2 posters for Disney’s “Rapunzel.” Also, if you are looking for an eerie experience, ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority in MK. When you travel though the closed section of Space Mountain, although most of it is boarded up, you can still see some of it. It’s like an old ghost town, very silent, exposed and spooky.
On our last day we survived the “bomb scare.” We were travelling from the Hollywood Studios to the Magic Kingdom. Luckily we were already in mid transportation to MK when the scare took place. Unknowing, I wanted to stop back to our resort first. If we stopped, we would have been held up. Unfortunately some people we spoke to were stuck without buses for over an hour. But, bravo to Disney for taking the extra safety precautions. (PS, this made me think, In the event of a major scare, I wonder if there is a mass exiting strategy at all the parks?)
Although it was hot and busy, we still had a great time!
