Disney tracking your feet?

This is strange. Easiest way to thwart it would be to change shoes after the scan. Or everyone buys the exact same brand, model and color sneaker, wears them to the park and watch the fun as it looks like the same person is going everywhere at every moment.

This tech is more about identifying 'Hotspots' on the floor where the most foot traffic exists not so much tracking an individual using their feet, Just like the 'Eye Tracker' is watching your pupils to determine where on a shelf you look, Since stores actually SELL shelf position for products that's valuable information as the most viewed shelves are the highest priced and now the shelves which have the highest foot traffic will also get a product placement pricing boost.

Sounds crazy, but I just heard about this foot thing on our local Bright House news channel 13. I would say they're late to the game announcing it Don't see much use for it, though.

Just popped in to say the hysteria on this is hysterical! Actually, it's freakin' ridiculous! The patent isn't for "tracking" any more than the finger scanners were and now RFID enabled magic bands are. It's an identification system for guests much in the same way a ticket, finger size or magic band is.

The ridiculousness of this is that right now Google, Microsoft, Facebook and your ISP have way more information on all of us and actually are closer to tracking us than Disney is, yet nobody's making a fuss about it. Just go search and read how Google is using your data to determine business traffic.

While I think this system would be an improvement over the use of MagicBands for identification and park access, I think it would prove difficult to implement and manage due to changes people make throughout the day sometimes in their footwear. Also, they couldn't use this for guests using wheelchairs or assistive devices.

Why would anyone "thwart" this? It's just guest data and checking paterns of movement. The most likely thing Disney would do with the data is redesign areas of the park to accommodate guests better or put certain vendors at hotspots where they're more likely to burn cash.

Also, both of your scenerios are not going to happen, the second much less likely because co-ordination on thag scale is obviously not going to happen and doing the first is a pain and only the saddest, most paranoid park guests would do that just because Disney wants some more marketing data.
Have to say this is kind of useless in my opinion. Maybe useful to a shoe company but I don't see how Disney could get much out of this or the government overlords who might be directing them.
It's basically tracking tendencies of guests so Disney can design stuff around the park around that. The government doesn't have anything to do with this. Data is invaluable to companies, especially ones such as Disney which make a lot of money from merchendise. There are companies that other companies hire just to get data.

Invaluable? My family and I buy almost no merchandise at all and I'm sure I'm not the only one. The marketing guys will tell you all this info is a great sales tool but I doubt anything useful can be had by how many times I ended hanging around women's rooms. In fact the data will probably make you feel bad for how many hours a day I waste in WDW standing around women's bathrooms looking like a stalker.

Ever hear of the term garbage in garbage out?

In those cases unfortunately it's Garbage in, Gospel out because the implementors do not realize the source data is bad and they make flawed decisions on the flawed data.
