I'm going to Florida next year and plan on staying in Disney property. I was just wondering what is the cheapest/efficient way to travel from the disney area to the universal parks?

Whatever is cheapest between a rental car and a taxi. If you're going anywhere else, get the car. Orlando sprawls like you wouldn't believe and there's no reliable public transportation.

Rent a car - you can usually get a day rental for like $20 give or take if you book earlier enough. If you take a cab - you will be out a good $50-$100 depending on distance and tip roundtrip

Wow, one of my best friends in high school was a Matthew Wilkinson. Your name is a blast from the past, haha.

If you're not renting a car, you can set up a shuttle through Mears.
https://www.mearstransportation.com/contact/ (407) 423-5566 is the phone number. I think it's around $20/person plus tip round trip. If you have more than 3-4 people, I would just get a cab at the resort. It's more flexible.

We rented a car for two days to get to Universal and explore the Orlando area. We rented from Alamo on WDW property since their rate was the least expensive and they provided transportation to and from our resort. Don't forget that Universal also charges $15 to park.

Be sure to check out all the transportation options to see what will be the best for you. Enjoy your trip!

Another benefit of renting a car is access to the outlets. They sometimes have cheaper merch or deals, the outlet further from Disney has one of the few Express outlets. If driving plan 20-35 minutes to get to and from UOR. I-4 is a nightmare through there again. I hate to say it but it's almost time to widen it again.

I should have probably specified I come from England and won't be old enough to legally drive in FLorida as I could here, so it would need to be taxi/bus/other service? I have tried doing some research but alot of places say some of the taxi firms cost alot of money.

Your welcome for the reminder haha. I think a cab is looking like the most likely option for me at the moment.
