I dont know if this is true but i have heard it from two people that i trust. Two people that dont even know each other. Apparently Disney has bought a little amusment park down there that is closing down this year. Im not saying this is a park but they could make it a heavly themed little area. Its not that big at all. Or maybe they bought the land infront of it two(its beach front) and there gonna make it a resort. I dont know why this hasnt came about already but isnt that weird that i heard it from two different people that dont know each other at all. Anyway, if it is true, what do you think they are gonna turn it into? I think it would be really cool. I dont know if i like the idea of a theme park but maybe a very nice themed resort. There is some nice hotels there but none that are very nicly themed.

If anything, it could possibly be a DVC resort area along the lines of Vero Beach or Hilton Head. Can't see it being anything more than that, if Disney did actually purchase this property.

Myrtle Beach

The Pavillion in Myrtle Beach is closing down after this season. I wonder if that is it?? My boss knows the owner of the Pavillion, so I will try to get some info and update if I do!

As a long term Myrtle Beach girl, I've been mourning the impending loss of the Pavilion ever since I heard about it. This might make it a teeny tiny bit more palatable!! But it sounds more like wishful thinking to me.

I hope this is true. But most of all, if they choose to make it a DVC resort, I hope it has more character and things to do (especially restaurants) than the Hilton Head one. That one was a complete let-down to me. Even the souvenirs said "Walt Disney World" instead of "Hilton Head"!!

The Pavilion is in a not so good part of town. Actually, I think the entire Myrtle Beach area is worse than the 7th layer of you know where. My family enjoys relaxing on the beach (I do not), but I have vowed to never tag along with them to Myrtle Beach again. The whole place feels cheap and trashy. I'll never go back.

And by the way, there is NO WAY Disney would be building a DVC resort on that property. It is WAY too small and is surrounded by junk. Of course, I have been wrong before and I'm sure I'll be wrong again ;)

Things were a lot different 10 years ago. The area that the Pavillion is in was a very popular spot (the Gay Dolphin anyone?) with lots of shops and amusement places for kids. There was a boardwalk on the beach if i recall?

The Pavillion was the place to go at night with your family...and it was safe enough for a couple of 14 year olds to venture to on their own. I used to love going there!

I think a hurricane destroyed part of it a few years ago? (i could be wrong here)

It all depends on where you stay..we've stayed there back in april and had no problems..it also depends on how far into the strip you stay...my family has gone there for the past 20 and seen it build right up....it is a nice place to go..inexspensive and family oriented....but like I said in a previous post..disney it is not.....

The Pavilion is definitely closing after this season, and according to several articles I've read, it's for condo development. However, none of the articles I've seen point to DVC. I would think if DVC were looking at somewhere in the MB area, they'd head down to Pawley's Island or the Litchfield area where its more closed/quiet. Getting to and out of the Pavilion area is a nightmare.
