I'm sure someone here can answer this. What is the ownership, operation/mgmt arrangement with all of the Disney Company parks world wide? I know they own and operate both domestic completely. What about the rest??
What percentage do they own of each?
Do they manage and therefore operate each (thereby controlling the guest experience under the Disney name)?

I might be a little off on percentages here but here I go.....

Disneyland Tokyo---- owned 100% by the Oriental Land Company.Disney gets license fees and percent of profits.

Disneyland Hong Kong----- I think around 51% Hong Kong Gov./49% Disney.

Disneyland Paris----- Owned/operated by DIsneyland Paris S.C.A. A company created to run Paris but Disney has 39% ownership of that company which makes Disney the biggest individual shareholder of that company which makes Disney basically own it.Interesting fact that Tom Staggs (CFO Disney) and Jay Rasulo sit on the board of Directors there.

Again I might be a little off on exact percentages but close enough

So who Operates -- runs-- Tokyo and Hong Kong? Disney ? I guess my concern is what appears to be the model for the future is letting someone else spend the capital and Disney sells their name. But, do they insist on running the parks and resorts to control the quality of the guest experience??

Tokyo is run and operated by the Oriental Land Company and has done so since it opened in the early 80s. Actually to be honest they have run it as good or better than Disney runs their parks in some cases. The Japaneese work ethic is different than Americans and the park has surpassed cleanliness than its American counterparts.(not to bash WDW or DL).Even though Disney doesnt own the pysical property it is is run under the same stringent guidelines as parks that are owned by Disney. Its like going to McDonalds anywhere.60 or more % of the locations are franchises.Even though the company doesnt own the locations the franchises still must abide by company standards or can risk loosing the franchise.

Hong Kong is run by Disney. The Hong Kong GOV owns about half of the park but its run and operated by Disney.

My understanding is that "Disney people" run the Tokyo parks at least in the sense of consulting on how things go. It would be similar perhaps to franchises where regional managers from head office would oversee general operations at store level even though individuals own the stores. Also, Disney designs and builds the rides so I imagine they have their people there to make them work!
