Disney Studios Tokyo

I've been giving this some serious thought over the last few days, and I've come to this conclusion: There's not enough room to build a new Animal Kingdom, I don't think a new Epcot would be right for that resort, and I don't see a park based off of California Adventure generating much intrest. So that leaves me with the idea of a Studio park.

I've come up with a basic plan for how I want this laid out:
6 "lands," including "Studio Street," "Animation Bay," "Production Central," "Backlot," "Radio Warehouse" (yes, indoors), an unnamed video game-based street.

Studio Street:
This street is the entranceway to the new Disney Studios Tokyo. Here you can find a selection of shops and restraunts, and streetmosphere entertainers preform here daily.

Animation Bay:
This is home to a walt-thru tour of the brand new Walt Disney Feature Animation - Tokyo. The big ride in this area is a Fantasia-themed boat ride (E-Ticket) that travels indoors and out, and features most of the sequences from the original, including a splashdown related to the Mickey Sorcerer sequence. Also, this area is home to a Goofy dark ride.

Production Central:
Besides featuring a tour through the studios (including driving into a few of the attractions, seeing a few spirits on the set of Haunted Mansion movie, and being sucked into a "wind tunnel" during the tour), this area will also be the home to a Walt Disney tribute, a broadway-style musical.

Backlot:
This area's theme is movies. First, "Tron Mountian" (E-Ticket), a water coaster that will have multiple drops, but will put emphasis on story. Also in this area will be a Finding Nemo attraction, based on the fish school in the movie (with lots of humor).

Radio Warehouse:
Home to the Rock'n Roller Coaster (E-Ticket), as well as Tarzan ROCKS and Disney's version of a Hard Rock Cafe.

Video Game Street:
Featuring my earlier designs for an Crazy Taxi dark ride (E-Ticket), this land will also feature two new attractions: an outdoor Mario Kart ride (think Aquatopia-meets-Indy-Speedway-meets-Mario Kart), and a Dumbo clone, themed to Donkey Kong (riders ride in barrels).

So, to wrap that up, that's four E-Tickets when the park first opens, and fourteen attractions in all.

Future Plans:
PhillharMagic's going in the Animation Bay. Placing the "Auto Stunt Show" (E-Ticket) in the Production Central, and placing another one of my earlier designs, the Metroid EMV ride (E-Ticket), on the Video Game Street. I could also see a car chase coaster (E-Ticket) going in the Backlot.

I have no plans to add the Tower of Terror, because that's going into DisneySeas.

Questions/comments/suggestions needed.

Hi Arsonwinter,

I think you have a good basic concept. Movie and TV are an attractive idea worldwide. I think it would go over very well in Japan.

I think that a romanticized Hollywood would go over even more in Japan. How about real Hollywood hills? Florida is so flat that you really cannot have real hills, but maybe in Japan that can happen. Or how about a fake backdrop that looks like hills?

Animation is big in Japan. Since much of current animation is produced there, I cannot decide if that is a plus or minus. I figure that maybe a larger area with interactive characters would go over well.

I think you have done a lot of good thinking on this. I do think some adjustments might be in order. "Tron" was not a blockbuster. There might be a better Disney/Touchstone movie that might make a better theme. I can see this attraction also based on Nemo, from the section when they were avoiding the jellyfish. Tumbling and shooting through giant jellyfish. Well, at least it sounds fun to me.

Good work.

I'm aware Tron wasn't a big hit, but the movie was brilliant, visually at least. It's a shame it's never gotten more theme park exposure than a Speed Room for the Peoplemover at Disneyland. On the Tron DVD, they talk about a sequel, and there's a PC game that just recently came out, called Tron 2.0.

The video game land would be difficult to make due to most of the games have no connection to Disney,

(however think of the Kingdom of Hearts..... Nice idea for a ride to be in this land)

Nice ideas....

Neither do Indiana Jones, the Twilight Zone, Star Wars, or The Muppets, but that doesn't mean it can't work within a park.
