I agree. I think MGM provides many more attractions for your dollar than AK. I guess it depens n what your opinion of what a "good" ride is. By saying "only three good rides" (I'm guessing you mean ToT, Rock'n'Roller Coaster and Star Tours) it shows me that you only consider a ride "good if it's a thrill ride. I love The Great Movie Ride, Walt Disney: One Man's Dream, the Backlot Tour, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and the Indiana Jones Stunt Show as well. Add Fantasmic to that, and I'd say that's a pretty good line-up. A new ride would be nice, but focus on AK, which has far fewer attractions. I must disagree with you.

Amen---If you want a gazillion thrill rides packed into a minimal amount of space, go torture yourself with bad service/show at Universal IOA :hurl:

Since we're talking about MGM.

Although it has some great effects, I think the Mermaid show is unworthy of Disney. The stage looks cheap, and using movies as a part of the show is a cop out. If they want to spend money I say improve existing shows like Mermaid and get rid of all references to ABC.

Wait. Is this Disney Studios in Orlando, or the one in France? The one in France doesn't have much at all. But, MGM in Orlando is loaded to the brim with stuff. It's easily grown into one of my favorite parks overall. The park has got great thrills, great live shows, great experiences, and a great nighttime show. Not only that, but the park is extremely well themed.

Muppets too.

Actually, to me, with the only exceptions of maybe Epcot and Toyko DisneySea, all of the parks that don't have "Disneyland" or "Magic Kingdom" in the title haven't been show stoppers when they opened. Disney Studios has actually matured somewhat, into something I'd rather spend a day at than AK. Although, that's a huge matter of oppinion.

What they should do is add more rides to AK, and then focus on the Studios. To me, they could add a few good rides, and the, when the time is right, add a huge e-Ticket to quell the minds of us all.

Actually, I think that there are some genuine similarities between the two parks. To me, it's Disney, and both are better than anything Six Flags or Universail could throw at me.

Absoloutely...
I shudder when I think about how that park was when it first opened... my stars. No Sunset Blvd., no Star Tours, no Muppetts. The backstage tour was, like, two hours long and it had to be. There wasn't anything to do in the park!
MGM Studios went from being one of the worst parks into one of thebest... that's why I still have hope for AK... I mean, look at all the room they have there. They have to use it for something, right?

When I was at Disney-MGM a couple weeks ago, I realized that there really needed to be one more good ride. It's a good park, but it's not a full-day park either. Here's my observations.

1. The backstage tour is the same as always, but the new water tank sequences with Pearl Harbor are very well done and are much more exciting than the old one. I enjoyed this. What happened to the green-screen room? (with the giant bee?)

2. Star Tours is still a great ride, but it needs a rehab. The film footage is grainy looking, it could use some technical enhancements. They need to replace Body Wars in Epcot with something else. If you ride that first, it cheapens the experience of Star Tours and it's not nearly as good.

3. The park needs some painting bad. All of the buildings and facades (Sunset Blvd. New York Area) look pretty faded. A repaint could do wonders.

4. They really only need like one more E-ticket and maybe a couple smaller rides to make this park truly great. With the theme of the park, there's tons of ideas, I'm sure.

5. Someone complained about the Little Mermaid show. It's going down at the end of the year (for rehab, supposedly), but I've read somewhere recently that they're going to bring over the much better Mermaid show from DisneySea at some point.

AndyMagic said it best, let's worry about making the ZOO into a theme park first.....

MGM is a great park, and yes, they'll probably be the last to get anything big in the future. They got two of the three most popular attractions, so I'd be surprised to see them get any more help...

MGM is my personally favoriote theme park in the world, but mainly for personal reasons. (I like a lot of the themes there).

But to be unselfish about it, I agree that MGM does lack in areas. Mainly rides. Disney has always been about provinding entertainment for everyone, and not everyone likes shows. They like thrills and other types of entertainment, and dont alway's want to be sitting down. Indy, BatB, Little Mermaid, Drew Carey, Muppets, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Fantasmic = a heck of a lot of "sit down" attractions. They should try to be a little more diverse.

But then, pretty much ALL of the parks at Disney need some new rides !

If I had to spend a day at MGM or AK I would definitely pick MGM. I agree with previous posts that Star Tours needs updated. As much as I love the Indiana Jones Stunt Show, how about replacing it with the Indiana Jones ride?

It could be worse, you could be at Epcot being told you're not allowed to sit-down anywhere!

Think about it.. HISTA, Living Seas, Energy, O Canada, and Wonders of China all request you to stand... More power to the "sit down" shows ;)

lol, Yes, sit down shows are certainly a blessing upon weary, tired guests. Of course, circle vision shows are always "stand up".

of course, all rides have you sitting down, too, but people enjoy them more because there's a lot more action going on.

I personally believe that a slow moving dark ride, like, say Peter Pan, is just as "tame" as a sit down show. These rides are basically the same as an audio animatronic show, like American Adventure, except you are moving through it. With that in mind, GMR could probably be put in the same category as the shows. One more to MGM's list!

 Mousecar--- I agree :D That would be great an Indiana Jone's ride, in addition, to the show Maybe? I have seen it a few times but then some people have not. Just in general--One other thing I like at MGM is the street actors-- I know it is not a ride but sure can be entertaining.

Talknig about Little Mermaid, Muppets, Bear in the Big Blue House-- It was great to see something for the children. I wish they could think of a RIDE for the younger people to go on Something with Monsters Inc. would be great!!!!! :animwink: For US Big!!! And Little kids!!! mmmmmmmmmm ?????

Sorry ya'll, I just have to go there...:animwink:

If I wanted to watch ABC I'd be at home on my couch watching TV as opposed to being in one of the most amazing places on earth on vacation! :)
