Okay I have a question if anyone can answer it.. and if not that's okay too.

I applied at the one in westside pavillion cause they are looking for people and I filled out my application, etc and my avalibility.. I get called back about interviews and the manager says they are starting interviewing on mon 2,3,4 (monday is the day I have ZERO avalibility cause I have calss from 8-9 straight practically except 2 hours between 4 and 6) ANYWAYS I called back saying that I couldn't make it then because of class and left a message.. is this bad?

Will the fact that I couldn't come when the interviews are (I can't miss a class because there are only so more before finals) a bad thing? *sighs* I need a job badly at the moment and this seemed like a great great shot since I've worked for the company before. Anyone have any ideas?

The amount of flexibility in your schedule is often a factor that a Manager or HR rep could consider. If a job is posted as "evenings" or "2nd shift", then being unavailable for a 10:00 a.m. (for example) interview wouldn't be much of an issue. On the other hand, if "day shift" was advertised and you were unavailable to interview during the day, that could put you at a competitive disadvantage.

Depending on how much you want that particular role, you could -

> send a resume (even a 2nd time), with a cover letter showing your enthusiasm... but also your available hours.

or

> go to the work location with those same materials. See if a Manager has a minute or two look them over with you.

Could you miss a class or two one day for the chance of an interview? That's always an option to consider.

I'm considering all my options. Trust me I've gone over them in my head. I have many days that I am avalible during the day time (5 of 7) just not on Mondays LOL.

I'm thinking about missing one class since I have decided I can't write on Infinite Jest to save my life ANYWAYS (modern american fiction class.. it's going to be the death of me). I was just wondering ... if I was worrying myself sick for a reason or not.

In my experience working at our Disney Store, not being able to make one interview does not necessarily count you out. You said you left a message (I'm assuming you left a message with the cast member that answered the phone). Call back and ask to speak to the manager on duty if the specific person you spoke to about scheduling the interview isn't working that day. Explain the situation and let them know that you have open availability several other days of the week--just not that one. Disney is huge on availability and you need to be available all day Saturday and Sunday and I believe (these all just changed recently so I could be fuzzy on this number) at least two other shifts during the week. If you can provide this kind of availability, they should still consider you once you explain the situation. Talking to a manager though is the key, because we've had cast members forget to relay messages to our managers before. Good luck!
