I got a job at the Disney Store!!!!

Hey guys,
I know most of you don't know me but I just had to tell everyone here of my good news. I just found out that I got a job at the Disney Store! I'm so excited. It is only for the Holiday Season but hey, Maybe I'd get really really lucky and get to stay on after that. Sorry if I didn't post this in the right place.,

Hi all.......

They are hiring at my local Disney Store for hourly and management. Does anyone know what they pay hourly and management employees?

I was thinking of applying but I do have a good job now as a manager (I work out of my home) and since Disney has been closing stores I don't know how secure my job would be.

If anyone could give me information about these jobs it would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Christina

That's great! If you don't mind can you tell me about how much they pay? I'd really love to know.

Thanks,
Christina

Congrats, Sam!

I work at a Disney Store too. Which store are you working at? It's hard work--don't be fooled by the fact that it's Disney. It is lots of fun though too. As for pay, let's just say you don't work there for the money. :)

Yay tDs. I'm currently at the Hulen Mall store in Fort Worth TX. It is a lot of hard work and the pay... well... doesn't even come close to covering my rent. But like Coree said, it is not a job you do for the money. Ever since I left WDW I've been wanting to go back and work there again, and this is a reasonable substitute until I can get back.

I've worked at Store 763 for the past two years and it is a lot of hard work (especially shipment) but it is also a lot of fun!!!! I only work 4-8 hours per week, but it is really my stress reliever from my full time job!!

If you only work part time do you still get the travel benefits? One CM at the Disney Store said she was using her "benefits" to make the trip. What are these benefits?

I am not a casual or seasonal cast member, I was hired as a permanent part time cast member so yes, I do get incredible benefits when going to WDW. Let's put it this way, I wouldn't be leaving tomorrow for a fourth trip this year if I was not working at the Disney Store!! We are going with another couple and I was able to use my discount to book their room, too. We are allowed to do that up to three rooms at a time and you must be with your party. We get a slight discount on tickets but it's really not enough to amount to anything. I do, however, walk right in with a flash of the cast id!! It's the most incredible feeling just walking through the gate!! :sohappy: :sohappy:

I just don't understand why everything about employment is such a secret! It's not like anyone here is using their real names or anything! I'll have to apply for the job just to get the information about how much people get paid and what the benefits are. I think it's silly that people just won't disclose the salary and benefits!! This is NOT a Disney trade secret!

Salary?? I make $6.76 per hour; 20% discount on merchandise 10% discount on media; if by benefits you mean medical, etc. I don't have any because I have a full time job that covers all that. It's a big "secret" because they make you sign all kinds of papers, etc. Alot of confidentiality stuff. So you can see it's not about money, it's about the love of Disney.

Finally! Thank you for the info! By benefits I mean what benefits do you get when you go to WDW? You said you flash your ID and you get in the gates--does that mean for you it's free? What about the resort discounts? Any discounts on food, etc?

And also where did you train? Locally at your Disney Store?

You train in your store- usually for the first couple shifts. This is the time to start you will be ready for the holiday rush!

You get 50% off most hotels (we stayed at the Beach Club in July, waterfront room with a King sized bed for $160 a night, this time we got All Star for $55 per night and Port Orleans for $85 per night (waterview))and you just waltz right through those gates. However, it's just you that gets in not your family. I think after so many years you get to take family in with you. There are also special stores in WDW called Company D, that only cast members get to shop in. They have exclusive shirts, pins, etc. You get 20% off sit down restaurants but they add the tip in the total, nothing off counter service. Also you get discounts at non Disney stores and restaurants in DownTown Disney ex. Wolfgang Puck's Express gives us 30% off, Virgin Records doesn't give a discount, Guitar Gallery gives 10%, the movie theatre is $4 per cast member, pleasure island is free on Monday Nights and $10.50 every other night (you can buy tickets for everyone in your party), water parks are $15 (you can buy tickets for everyone in your party), special events are full price (ie. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, E-ticket nights, etc.) All Disney stores are 20% in all parks, etc.:sohappy: Hope this answers your questions.

you got most of it right, but not all.. Virgin does give a discount, generally 15% off CD's, Books, and DVDs.. the catch is you have to purchase them upstairs. You get into PI for free on thursdays as well. And the discount (if you're Part Time and Full Time) is 35% after 3 years

I tried to get my discount from Virgin Records upstairs as I was told by a clerk downstairs and I went upstairs and the discount is only valid for Cast Members of Walt Disney World not Disney Stores. Believe me I tried, there are tons of CD's my son wants that I can only find there. and yes I forgot that the discount goes up to 35%, only one more year for me!!!
:sohappy: 24 hours and counting.....
