Disney Springs “security area” question

Is the “temporary” security setup in the parking ramps, permanent? It looks terrible, those crowd control barriers are a horrible tripping hazard, and the whole thing seems pointless, as 95% of the people seems to walk through without issue.

Anyone know what the future holds for this setup?

Does it have metal detectors? If so, I'm all for it.

The security operation itself is here to stay. They’re aware that it doesn’t look great right now and are trying to find a solution. Biggest issue right now is that the garages are owned and operated by Reedy Creek and were not designed to have security set up where it is, so there’s conversations on how to solve that. But either way, the operation itself is permanent.

It has the same walk through scanners as the parks. I like the idea too, but do think they could stream line it a bit. Right now b/c of it, there's only 1 exit/re-entry (walking) from the garages, and the one (forget which color, if not both) you basically have to walk halfway down the parking row, to U turn and go through the machines at the end that you just walked up from.

I miss being able to walk out of the one west side garage between Splitsville & AMC, now the only entrance for that one is by the Coke store, doesn't help cut out much of the walking if I want that side of stuff (and don't always want surface if it's hot)

You can still exit that way , just not enter (orange garage)

Exit the garage or Exit Springs (to go back into the garage)?? When we were there a little short of 2 weeks ago, that exit was all barricaded off. When we were at Splitsville & Everglaze we didn't see anyone coming or going from/to it.

Are they scanning people coming to Disney springs on boats from the resorts? I haven't ridden one since covid.

If Disney's going to screen guests entering the parks then they should screen guests entering DS. I'm all in favor of it. I could envision something horribly happening at DS more so where vast numbers of the general public comes in from the outside than the parks where vacationing guests are the majority of those entering. With the crowded areas of people packed in in the evening, it could be a targeted area for any crazy person looking to terrorize.

It's the added walking distance. Boats were going to the westside dock and the dock by Jock Lindsey's.

Do you mean that one can no longer take the boat from Port Orleans or Old Key West to the main dock, and then transfer to the "water taxi" that goes to the Landing dock (by Jock Lindsey's)? That would be really unfortunate.

Or do you mean that there used to be boats that actually went from PO and OKW directly to the Landing dock (without having to transfer boats)?

The only boats running come to the main dock. The West side and Hangar bar docks are not being currently used.
