Now that Disney springs is nearing full completion, I was wondering peoples opinion of it vs Downtown disney, my trip last year was the first time Id ever been to downtown, went one night and had an amazing time! My next trip is in early september this year and I just want to know what people think if the Springs and whether its better than Downtown or worse.
Thanks!

When was your last trip? Most of the same stuff is there that was there since 2009(post pleasure island clubsclosing) and they just have added a bunch of new stuff and a few things changed that was previously there, and are continuing to add more restaurants etc into next year. They started building several years ago. I was there in October like the other poster and love the new additions and ones still coming. They still have all our old favorite shops and restaurants too so I am welcome to the changes. :)

It's much more polished but it's essentially a giant shopping mall for rich folks. There will be a few more additions that will round it out a bit but in that respect it's been disappointing. The food on the other hand has been a welcome addition and the entertainment which has always been great now has more room to spread out which is nice. Generally Disney springs made walking around much more enjoyable and it's a nice place to just hang out if you can find shade.

Why is it for rich folks?

I'm excited to see the new "Springs" and all the new shops--the new Disney travel shop looks awesome (is there a website for this place yet?). I too, wish that Pleasure Island were still around. I really liked the theming of the different clubs--but who know, that could've been just because I was a young college kid at the time. Now that I've got kids and like to be asleep by 10pm, it may just annoy me in my "old age"! :p

The Disney parks travel shop TAG is in the Marketplace Co-Op on the marketplace side not the new town center area. Also you can get all the items on the Shop Disney Parks App that is sold there. ;)

Ooooh, tough decision here! Do I get some travel "essentials" before our trip or get them as "souvenirs" when we get there? Me-thinks there shall be some pre-trip shopping for some specialty luggage tags pre-cruise. I never had the desire to work retail but that's the type of shop I would love to open up as my own! LOL

I know I love all the new travel accessories! And you need to buy some before of course so you have them while you travel. Hehe! :p

What I miss of Downtown Disney was Pleasure Island but honestly since I am no longer in my 20's I am not as interested in going to clubs so the focus of nightlife turning to restaurants, bar and lounges is more up my alley.

My family really enjoys Disney Springs; we also really enjoyed it when it was Downtown Disney. We're not big shoppers, so the stores have never really interested us, but they are fun to go in and walk around. The only store that we really ever buy from is World of Disney. I think I bought a pair of sunglasses from their Sunglass Hut (or whatever it was called) a few years ago.

We mostly go there to walk around, maybe grab dinner, and let our daughter do the rides.

I was there last month and it was mostly done. It's really a very lovely outdoor mall.

But I'm going to miss the kitschiness of Downtown Disney. At this point, the Marketplace area is really the only Mousified area, everything else is standard luxury mall junk I can find at home.

I don't go to Disney's mall to buy French milled lavender soap, designer sunglasses and silk ascots. I want Orange Bird juice glasses, EPCOT Center t-shirts and reproductions of Mary Blair prints. DH wants pins. And the kids want Prince Philip and Beast foam swords and shields to beat the snot out of each other....
