And indeed... Disney has quietly struck a deal with writer Melissa Gould to pen a potential sequel to The Lizzie McGuire Movie, based on the popular TV series and opening in theaters today. The Hollywood Reporter says the possible sequel is in the early stages of development, with no story line yet announced, and McGuire star Hilary Duff yet to sign on. The first movie is expected to open in second place behind X-Men 2 this weekend, with $12 to $17 million.

This is just crazy ... soooooooooo many bad films open in the top five during the opening weekend.
Of course, this was a cheap little thing for Disney to make. They'll probably make a tiny profit.

Do you know how many girls I have heard talk about this film? The budget is only $15 million and Disney should make that back this weekend alone.

Personally, I cant wait to see it! I love Lizzie...and anything put together with the help of the folks from the "Princess Diaries" movie gets my vote! They are working on a sequel to that movie too....I can understand why....the books are wonderful!

(Oh, and by the way, I'm not in school)

That's why I said that Eisner & Co will probably make a tiny profit.

Personally, I think Julie Andrews was a big part of PD success. While the story is great, she is so wonderful in it.

But, I could be wrong about her being a big part of PD success.

We'll just see how well LM is doing in three weeks. I might very well be proven wrong

I will admit I like the show a little, but what is this about going to Rome and becoming a huge pop star? I could really care less about all that, I liked it back when they were at school or at home. And yeah there is only 65 episodes and they are already shot, but they still have to show new episodes through 2003 (same about Even Stevens). Miranda is not in the last few episodes or the movie.

So new episodes are going to be shown past the movie?? They're going to show them in high school??

BTW... IMO, I dont think the movie would have been as good if it had Miranda in it...
